Default 6906 slide on 5906

I know this has been done before but I was wondering if the 5906 has a narrow hood should the 6906 slide also have the same or will it not matter since the whole slide/barrel is being swapped? I'm not sure of any other differences that might be an issue which is why I'm wondering if I should stick to something that was probably manufactured close to the same time frame. Thanks in advance!

Since you're swapping the entire top end, it doesn't matter. I've swapped between my 5906, 6906, and 3913 with no issues.

Thank you. I just wasn't sure if there were other changes on the slide/frame when they switched hood size that would interfere.

I swap slides on my 5906 and 6906. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Depends on the individual pistols.

The 5906 looks great with a 6906 slide. I've swapped mine before and really liked it.

IIRC some later guns ....... followed the PC and had heavier "box" rails vs early 3rd Gen guns......again IIRC these were the "Tactical" guns.

That said; I've put 5906 and 915 uppers on 69xx frames........

Good luck.... "FrankenSmiths" are fun!
