I just got a new S&W 1911, SKU 108482, and am excited. I'll be giving it a good cleaning when I get home, but am impressed with its heft & external fit & finish.

Everything I read about these guns was positive- if I missed something let me know.

These 1911s appear to be sleepers in the 1911 market

It'll be one of my IDPA/ USPSA guns this season & I'll update this thread with my experiences with it

Yup- I had a 1911 when I served too (also had a Model 10, but that's another story....). Am reasonably well versed in 1911s, had a Colt, a couple of springfields and now a Sig.

Was looking for any feedback/ concerns regarding the S&W E- Series variant of 1911s, if any. Apologize if that wasn't clear in my first post

Thanks

If it's anything like the 108282, which I imagine it is, you are going to like it. Slide is smooth as butter and very accurate. I think you did good! Enjoy.

I EDC a 108282 and have 1100 rounds through it. I realize thats not a lot, but I have not experienced 1 FTF (failure to fire) in that 1100 rounds. My brother-in-law became smitten with a #108482 shortly after I brought my Smith home. He has nearly the same amount of rounds through his #108482, also without 1 FTF.

I compared my new to me Smith 1911 E series to my relatively new SIG Nightmare, and am favorable impressed. While I consider them in the same class of 1911s, from a fit/ finish, trigger pull, thumb safety action, the S&W is slightly better. I hope to shoot the 1911 this weekend & will try to post some pics later w/ range results

I have a Sig stainless 1911. Have 2 others. Bought a clean S&W late 2015 (used) I do believe it is my favorite. Especially in the looks department. Bob

You will really enjoy that pistol!
I have a SW1911E Series with about 1200 flawless rounds shot so far.
It is a great shooter! In fact, it will shoot with 1911s that cost twice as much.
Enjoy!! Be safe!:)

smith wesson 1911 is the most underrated 1911 made. everyone talks about kimber this and colt that. give me sw1911 anyday. Matter of fact i have 4 of them.

45acp sw 1911pd- i have 2 of these. they are great guns and cheaper then other sw 1911's.
9mm 1911 pro series
45acp 1911 performance center

So I shot my 1911 the other day, after our IDPA match. Used 2 IDPA targets from 7 yards, drawing from the holster, performing reloads. Was very impressed. The gun did what I wanted it to do, it almost shot itself.

Am very pleased and impressed
