Default Novak sights for a 457

In the course of gathering spare parts for a 457 pistol I recently ordered a Rear Sight (Low Carry; .360") SMITH & WESSON | 10, 40, 45 SERIES SKU: 339450 from Numrich figuring it would either fit or I could get it machined to fit. After receiving the sight I saw it is a skosh higher than the factory plastic sight but the base looks like it will slide in as the edge fits the 457 slide dovetail. The height compensates for my testing (flinch?((which is very consistent))).

Any thoughts from the community on if this will fit the 457 rear sight dovetail? Also, is there a metal front sight available?

By the way, as has been reported here, the 457 is very pleasant to shoot. Very nice handling characteristics. Mine had a very good trigger after cleaning and lubing.

I can't relate that Numrich SKU# to a particular S&W PN#. Since it mentions the 10xx series that implies it's for a full size (4.5 or 5" bbl.) large frame which of course would be different than one for your shorter 3.5" bbl. large frame.

You said it's a "skosh higher". Have you measured the existing sight? You'll need to know the difference (.0xx") between them to order a compatible front sight.

The 4516 is what the 457 Value Series was based on. It's metal sights might be your best bet. It's front sight is .216" tall.

The Novak sight is about 1/16 higher than the factory 457 rear sight. My groups at 15 yards are about 4 inches low of point of aim with the factory sights.

The Novak base looks to be the same as the plastic factory sight base, which surprises me due to many comments on the 457 dovetail being an unusual size.
