Default Model 39-2, Box and Mag

I bought this 39 a while ago from a small local shop. It came with a stainless 9 round replacement mag. I found a box and blue 8 round mag on the Bay. I was surprised when I received them, the box was serial numbered only 800 from the gun. When I bought the 39 the shop owner reassured me if I kept it for 20 years I might make some money on it. I'm into the package for about 4 C notes. I think I'm already ahead of the curve! I'm more of a Smith and Wesson revolver guy but these 39's do fit the hand well.

Are you trying to sell this? If so what is your asking price?

No it's not for sale. I do a lot more buying than I do selling. Mostly I was just practicing posting pictures. I still have my wife help me, a computer tech I'm not!

The model 39-2 is my favorite 9 MM. As you said, it just fits the hand so well. Have you noticed all the talk about single stacked 9 mm's these days. Have you heard all the talk about 1911's being chambered for 9 mm lately?
Well, in the model 39s you have both of those things. No, it's not a 1911, but it is the same size as a 1911 Commander with a 4" barrel. I used to have a 1911 and I like the M39 way better for my shooting needs.

I don't know if you shoot your guns or just collect them, but I'm sure you will find the M39 to be a very sweet shooting pistol. Get a new recoil spring and you will be all set. Keep the aluminium frame well lubed and you will have no problems.
Enjoy!

Nice thought. But, the 39 series guns aren't meant for "saving", they are meant for totin'. ;-)

muzzleblast,

Those are some very nice holsters you have there. I particularly like the one on the right with the 39-2 in it. What brand is it? I can't make out the makers stamp in the picture.

OMG - Story, WY! I'm thinking you went to Sheridan or Buffalo. Just one shop in Buffalo as far as I know, Sports Lure. I bought my Model 39 in Buffalo in the 70's from Ellis Hardware. Still got it - either Andy or Fred put the price of $119-something on it with what looks like a Crayola. Got my 59 from Baldwin Gun Shop - but you would have to be a geezer to remember that place ...

I've bought several guns from the Sports Lure. I remember Ellis Hardware and Baldwins very well. I bought this 39-2 from Little Johns in Sheridan. I've done business with John for years. He's one of those few business people that is happy to make a profit without trying to rape you! The original price tag on this box was 119$.
