What I like most about my 469
This is the one I mostly carry. The nice thing about the "minnie gun" is it's shortened size and will take any double stack magazine made for the 59. Of course the standard mag with the "pinkie rest"
But also The 20 round,
The 14 round,
And when you want it extra compact, remove the pinkie rest and replace with a flat base.

This is a 39-59 hammer cut down and knurled. I've done a few in the past.

I've got a friends 669 who had a "proper" hammer put on it as he liked to thumb cock it when target shooting with it. He passed away & I bought it from his estate. keep it as my truck gun. shot it a couple of days ago & is still on the money

Can you give a bit more detail about this. I'm getting a 6906 in the next day or two and would like to consider a spur hammer....
Which specific hammers should I be looking for, are there sources, and is it a DIY project or something I should get my smith to undertake?

I made these by grinding down a standard 39-59 hammer, filed the spur and reblued. Smaller than stock but something to grab onto over the stock 469 hammer. Here's a comparison.

These are nice guns. I have a 669 I bought surplus from a mid-west state police agency years ago. It seemed to be unfired. Double column magazines are a little fat for my hand but it is a fine weapon.

I to have a 669 that looked to be 98% or better that came with a real nice lined leather safariland owb holster and several extra mags 59 included for 359 dollars . Best DA/SA trigger I have found on any pistol and never been home for any service and no gunsmith marks so s&w use to make great pistols . I was going to buy a ultra 1911 when I saw it too .
