Default S&W mod 41 C.I.A. issue...?

Appreciate any info re: mod 41 .22 LR. This is apparently a 1961 model,NIB,unfired with a factory installed muzzle-brake,#111190. Advised by a match shooter that he had competed with an exact type in matches and learned that about 100-pieces or so were made for the CIA and had about 1/4"-3/8" barrel longer than the slide to attach a devise. Request any pertinent info to verify this. Emails appreciated..or call,...574 233-4867(Business-EST)

L999here Welcome to the Forum. The early M41's had a barrel length of 7-3/8th inchs long. plus the muzzle break on the end. Many of us own these which are in the thousands. Usually if they were US Gov issued they would be marked with which Branch of the service it was made for. I have never heard of the CIA ever ordering any of them but that dosen't mean it did not happen. Others will chime in and may know more about them.

Perhaps the CIA wanted the M41 for practice to simulate the similar looking T1 assassination pistol which fired the E1 poisoned fletchette. Shellfish toxin, incapacitating in seconds, lethal in 10 minutes. Described in Gun World magazine in the 1960s.

Check post #23 in this thread for what he may have been referring to.

Odd Model 41

Was the shooter you mention someone who might know about these or was it just typical range/gun store BS? (No insult intended.)
