Wonderful little 22 plinkers and silencer ready too with the correct thread adapter. Mine needed a new recoil spring to bring it back to excellent reliability, but that was a 3-dollar investment. Why no love for such a darling tin-can slayer?

I've never had much luck with the lower cost S&W 22's. The 442/642, ans 22A/22S just never did it for me. The ones I owned weren't much in the accuracy department.

Its a shame you had this experience. Mine is quite accurate. I had fun knocking a three inch diameter granite rock around the ground at the range shooting standing and off-hand. At the end of it, the granite rock looked like it was made of lead from the lead splatter that coated it.

I've used a 2206 for years as a basic marksmanship teaching tool. It's stainless steel, very reliable, and quite accurate enough for beginners to learn the fundamentals of basic paper-punching and sight adjustment. I do wish it had a more 'standard' mag release, but that's the only fault I can find with it.

Although I bought it years ago when everything that shoots was a bunch cheaper, I still consider it $200 very well spent.

I bought a new 2206 for my 10 year old son back in the early 90’s. It went back to Smith 2 or 3 times for feed problems but can’t remember if we ever got it straightened out. I still have it in the safe and pulled it out the other day. I guess it’d not seen daylight in twenty years at least. I bought a S&W 15 for him too and have it in the safe as well. It’s easily been 20 years since it’s been shot too. Now it’s time to shoot both next trip to the range.

I’m sure that I am one of the very few that just didn’t like the 2206T I had.

I bought it in the early ‘90’s along with a slew of other guns taking advantage of my newly acquired FFL. It just never was as accurate as I expected. It WAS a very nice pistol, it just didn’t compare with my 41 or any of my HiStandards. I sold it and didn’t really loose too much money.

I wish I still had it today though !!!

Been trying to keep quiet about these till I get them all. I have a couple of 422’s and 622’s. Also have a 2206, 2213 and the 2214, Prices have been rising over the last 2 years. These are great little pistols for plinking and are fairly accurate. I think the collectors have already discovered these little gems.

I had a minor issue with mine involving a fatigued recoil spring. It wouldn't close completely, leaving about a .7mm gap. Replacing the spring fixed the issue. I ordered a second spare since they're under three-bucks from Numrich. Aside from that I have the six-inch model and it makes empty drink cans dance at 25 yards like they're giant Mexican jumping beans. Get a misfeed maybe every 40 to 50 rounds but I blame the bulk cheap-o 22LR I'm using. Like every 22LR a lot of it comes from the ammo we use. Remington Thunderbolt is a good catch-all for plinking at least in my toys.

Picked up a used 2206 for a solid price a couple years back. I haven't given it the range time it probably deserves but I keep detailed records and I've sent 750 rounds down range with no issues.

Only two minor complaints... the original 12-round magazine works properly, but two different brand new S&W 41/622/2206 magazines fail to lock the slide open upon last shot, which is a minor annoyance but nothing that frustrates me too much. The other issue is that even with the adjustable rear sight bottomed out, it still shoots a bit high. 6-o'clock hold is one answer for this, but I almost feel like I have to stick Post-It notes on any of my rimfire pistols that exhibit this tendency, so I don't have to re-learn it each time that particular pistol gets a range day.

I love the all-steel construction, but as it is the 6-inch pistol, it's awfully heavy any time I use it for a brand new younger shooter or anyone who isn't used to holding heavy handguns at arms length.

I don't mind the odd location of the magazine release, in fact I really kind of like it. I will say with no hesitation that this is an ugly pistol. Ugly. Fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. I remember when these guns first hit the market, I was a teenager and I remember saying "Wow, Smith & Wesson sure went ugly with these..." Ruger owned this market back in the 1980's and the Ruger was a handsome pistol.

As for my opinion that it's homely to look at, yes, of course this is simply my opinion and others won't share it. However, there are reasons that some cars are gorgeous to MOST folks and some cars are ugly to MOST folks and guns aren't much different. While there will absolutely be folks that find a 422/622/2206 to be visually attractive, this pistol has no chance of winning a beauty contest by popular vote.

I have had a 22S for twenty years, it is been a great plinker. Until I recently bought a Ruger Single Six, the 22A was my only 22 handgun and has served well year in and year out and it never misses a trip to the range.

They are great guns IMO, I have more than I care to admit, and I've built custom variations. I also have the trigger mod dialed in for a nice, crisp 2-2.5lb pull.

I like that series as to me they are great looking guns wether in stainless or Blued. AS long as they have either wood or Pearl grips on them I would not buy one but have shot many and have had No accuracy problems with any of them. Owning a M41 and a M46 does not justify buying one at this time.

My long ago, foolishly sold, 2213 is a very sad spot in my S&W buying profile ... . It had two mags & even the mags are $100-ish nowadays. I have never had any issues with either my 4-inch 622 or 6-incher. That said, I think my M&P Compact is just as reliable but not at all sexy.

I "discovered" the 422/622/2206/2213/2214 line of autoloaders after buying a 61-3 and liked the low barrel concept. I have found them extremely accurate....enough so that I sold my beloved model 41 and bought 3 more of the series with that money, and never looked back. The magazine release is the best for an autoloader I have even used. They break down simply...parts are easy to get (not that I have busted anything in tens of thousands of rounds) and the only thing I have replaced was a firing pin on one I bought cheap because it was "broken". I really really like them a lot and hope that they don't become any more popular as I like buying them cheap..

My son’s first handgun was a limited edition, brushed nickel S&W 2214. He has owned it twenty-seven years now, since he was five years old. I have a 2206 and a pair of 622”s; all of them 4.5”, fixed sight models. I have owned three 422’s (all 4.5”, two FS one AS with wood stocks), a 6” AS 2206 and a 2213. The finish on the 422 series is about as durable as carbide lamp smoke. FIST was the only holster maker I ever found that catalogued holsters for these models. Those are the only two negatives I ever found with them.

I had a 2206TGT years ago. I foolishly let it go and had been regularly kicking myself for doing so... until now.
A couple years back I happened across a 2214 in near new condition minus the box, but it had a second mag... It was a must have item. It is one of my favorites at the range and in the woods. I found it fit my holsters for my LCP quite nicely and Barsony lists holsters for this model and its big brothers (422,622,2206).
Shortly after this last thanksgiving I ran across a 422 6" AS with wood grips in the same condition that I found my 2214 in but only having one mag. It was discounted because it had one little nick in the finish right below the trigger guard above the mag release, a minor blemish saved me quite a few bucks. Internally the slide looked like it had been cycled only a few times and rarely if ever been shot. On its first trip to the range despite rough trigger engagement it proved to be quite reliable in that it went through around 100 rounds with no hangups and was accurate enough to show promise. With a bit of help from a friend the trigger pull is now coming in at 2.12 lbs and it is proving its accuracy each trip to the range.
Both are keepers and they will be the last to be parted with many years from now.

Found a 2213 at the Tulsa gun show lat year. Price was $350. Started to bargain a little until he showed me he had 4 magazines and the little blue pouch. Paid full price. Happy.

I bought a 2214 used some years back. I was at this LGS and saw it there marked for $210. I asked if they'd sell it for $160. Well, they must have wanted to get rid of it because I bought it for $170. Came with 1 magazine, but at the time S&W still sold them on their website, so I bought 2 from S&W for $28 each. I haven't used it a lot, but when I have, it's been a lot of fun and very accurate.

my first 22 pistol was a 6 inch 422 fixed sight... that was many many years ago... I was single and my hair was red... since I have added a adjustable sight model to the pile... not sure which one my son will get first... he is 21... like I said... many many years ago... never plan on being with out at least one...
