Default cs40 9mm conversion?

Hello everyone this is my first post here.
I have a cs40 that I'd like to convert to 9mm. I'm curious if
a barrel and magazine from a cs9 (or similar model)would work. I found a 3913 parts lot for sale online. I'd like to know if that slide and barrel will work on my cs40

I don’t know if a simple barrel and mag swap will work like it does for Glocks. The breech face, extractor and ejector also have to be considered.

I don't think it would work. I seem to remember this came up a while back, and they said the rails on the frame were too short. I suggest a search of this sub-forum.

I am not a tinkerer, so I leave the mechanics to the many folks here who know that better than I, but a CS40 - although it shoots 40 cal - is probably rarer than a CS9? Have you tried a trade? If a CS9 is worth more in your location, I am guessing that the difference is probably not more than the parts that you would need. A good CS9 can be bought for $500 or so.

Welcome to the Forum!

I have both models and, sorry, it won't work.

CS40 is built on the 45 size large frame and slide and CS9 is built on the 9mm size small frame and slide.

Nothing is compatible between the two.

Again, sorry.

John

How about a 45 conversion for your CS40?

Oh great, there you go again John. (Contributing to the total delinquency of a future CS “delinquent”.)

I totally blame you for some of my S&W endeavors including getting the .40 top end for my .45 CS.

Yup, and it works GREAT.

I saw a complete .40 top end and magazine being offered so I contacted JohnHL. I thought I remembered that he had posted about doing this but I wanted to confirm. I bid but lost. Three weeks later it was re-listed and I bid again I got it. (Actually cheaper than my bid the first time.) The guy said someone bought it thinking it would work on a CS9 and returned it.

I still have a few of the 4513TSW base plates so I put one on the .40 magazine too.

Yes indeed. But the CS40 magazines are tough to find at a reasonable price point. I've acquired 3 spares over a couple of years, for not more than $50 each, and feel lucky to have found them at that price. I just won't buy them at $95 and up.
