4013 TSW - I Think ..
S&W semi pistols in CA are hard to find, LGS forgot to give me the paperwork while I do my 10 day wait. I did a pretty much instant "I'll take it" and didn't pay too much attention to the details.
Steel framed, DAO, 40 S&W with "Tactical" on the left side frame and no rail. The spurless hammer isn't flat flush against the frame, has a slight rounded rear end to it. Curved Delrin grips.
Came ANIB with 3 9 round mags with blue followers. That's a 4013 TSW, correct?
Am happy with it as is, but I do have an extra hammer with spur. Is this interchangeable?

If it doesn't have a safety/de-cocker, then it may be a 4053TSW pre-rail model.

Great find on a nice pistol. I guess especially if you’re in California.
4013TSW, is an aluminum frame, (hence the 3,) and 9rnd magazines with blue followers were standard.
Here’s a picture of mine to compare with yours as you remember it.
Oh I forgot to add that yes a spurred hammer is an easy and doable change. Keep your spurless one though cause you eventually might find you don’t “appreciate” the spurred one.

All-steel DAO would be a 4056, no? Rare find...

It's definitely steel frame, not alloy. Pretty sure I noticed the frame & slide were much same width, frame may be a tad prouder horizontally lengthwise. No decocker, but not 100% on that.
Checked my SCSW and the description matches - picked up this image on line.

Another minor mystery. There was a plastic orange plug in the box too. Couldn't figure out what the heck it was for. Thought it might be a kind of range flag or device for capturing the recoild spring, similar to the 3" 1911 types. Spent more time trying to figure out what it was than looking at the gun.
BTW all - I appreciate the "no ribbing" on my having not the slightest idea of what the heck I was buying.

The orange plug is a "chamber flag", that is, a bright orange plug to stick in the chamber which also holds the slide out of battery and provides an instant visual cue that the gun is unloaded.
If the pistol is in fact a DAO, then changing hammers is a no go because of the difference in the firing mechanisms.

If you indeed get a 4056TSW, welcome to a somewhat exclusive club.
IIRC there were only 1100 made. And that is on the KGB's approved list in Kalifornistan?
You got very lucky.
Congrats!

Guns already in California are exempt from the "List".
It's new guns and importing old ones into the state that you run up against the damned list.
I was 2 years hunting for a single stack 9mm of any flavor before running down a 39-2 at auction mid 2020.

I paid $1K for it, whether that's lucky or not - don't know but in CA I figure that's OK. They had an HB Model 13 4" for the same price and a 457 for about the same. No doubt they'll sell in CA.
In the past year of so I bought a PC Shorty Forty (one of 250) and a PC Model 646 for about $650.00 each, a 696 "no dash" for $600.00. Had what I would consider some other good deals on non-S&W guns too. Makes me wonder if from time to time gun stores are 100% up on things.

Picked the gun up last Friday afternoon and it's a 4056 - good to know CA trusts me with another gun.
After the gun store cleared the pistol I mentioned "did you know …..?" 1997 only and a few made - and they hadn't. Great DA pull and well fitted slide to receiver. It's a pretty hefty gun. Have to admit I'd have a hard time figuring out what it does well. A 3.5" bbl is s bit too short for service and it's too heavy for most CCW.

Yes. But they are nice to shoot. I think that they are well balanced.
Plus, they are slick looking.
