Default Newbie

I was given a 4516 no dash. Two things: the slide is extremely stiff. Even the instructor I went to today commented on how stiff it is. Also, several times a round did not feed completely when starting with a new magazine. The magazine was full and the instructor had a puzzled look on their face and said they weren’t sure what the cause was.
Comments? Suggestions? I haven’t broken it down yet but am looking for a manual. Thanks

Manual - http://www.marxcollector.com/S_W/S&W...ire_pistol.pdf

New recoil and magazine springs may solve the problem (available from Midway).

Welcome to the forum. Does it look like it's been fired much? Like the others here, a field strip and good cleaning and lube may be all it needs. It could be stiff just because it hasn't been fired much and just may need a little more breaking in.

I always take new/used firearms to the range without cleaning or oiling, then break them down for a through cleaning & lubrication.
I’ve found this gentleman’s videos helpful.

Welcome to the S&W Forums! I suggest field stripping it and giving it a thorough cleaning and be sure to flush out the extractor channel, lots of gunk will build up in there. I would also recommend a new, factory weight recoil spring. You have no idea what the previous owner may have done or not done with a used firearm. Also, maybe fresh magazine springs too.

Hello from the great Pacific Northwest. (All those recommending a thorough cleaning and lube are right on the money. And try loading the mag with one or two less rounds and see if that helps.)
