Default My New CSX-Pics

Ok, so i guess i spoke to soon. I initially was not that excited about the new CSX. I figured I would take a look at one at some point down the road after the big tease we usually get with new guns followed by availability (maybe) within a couple months of the shot show.
This morning I was walking thru local dealer, and there they are in the case. I have been actually looking to add a carry gun with a safety to my collection, so i asked to handle it. Feels real good, looks well made, not a hint of polymer anywhere (keep in mind i am a Glock and FN fan) and it was $599. I put on the small back strap(which curiously just skips the side panels which are part of the larger one) and it feels very good in the hand. 10 rounds, small package, steel sights, metal frame, safety (which for pocket carry i like) and it actually fits the hand great. You can really get a good tight web of hand hold with the nice beavertail.
If its reliable, its a grand slam carry gun.
If i can get it out to shoot this weekend i will post a range report. Picture quality probably does not show it but the fit and finish are top notch.

Cool! How easy is it to take apart for routine cleaning?

Looks like S&W hit it right . I'm actually going to look at them the they get here , it'd be my first new S&W . Don't know what part of the country you live in , but you got these fast . If you were looking , did they have any of the new 10mm's in stock yet ?

No 10mm's yet but they had 10 of these. 9 left as of this morning. I am in Hartford area and the dealers around here get a ton of Smiths. With the move to TN not sure if that continues but for now they are flush

How are you doing this? I feel that if you use the method suggested by S&W, there is a good chance of scratching the right side slide stop lever or frame if the metal punch slips off the pin you are trying to push to the left.

I use a wooden cloths pin half but some times I really have to play with it for a while.

Thanks,

Trooper Joe

These look interesting. Like a sig 938 and shield combo. For someone who likes a 1911 style of carry (which I do) it may be a nice compact option. How’s the trigger? I’ve heard some examples are pretty heavy but even out to about 5 pounds after some use. I think this with an apex trigger, good night sights and it would be a home run that creates a lower tier opportunity to the Wilson EDC-9. Which I dream of owning but can’t afford.

So when the small backstrap/grip panel/whatever is on, it doesn’t cover the side at all? So you’re just gripping bare, smooth aluminum? Isn’t that slippery? All of my aluminum pistols have grip panels or wraparound grips of some sort. This seems weird. Do you like it?

Trooper, just make sure the notch is lined up with the slide stop tab and I use the head part of the little tool they gave me for the back strap change. I just push it (it’s plastic so no scratch ability) and the slide stop goes about half way and then I just pull it out from left side once it’s started out.
DM, yes just bare aluminum on the sides of the grip once you put the small back strap on. It looked odd at first, but it feels great.

Forgot, the trigger is a little heavy and kind of pivots more than your regular 1911 trigger (which is more of a straight pull backwards rather than a pivot) but I am a big believer in practice to overcome any trigger “issues”.
I don’t think the trigger will impede nice accurate groups with this pistol once I get some range time with it. But I will let you know

My local shop only got one in and sold it 2 hours after putting it out. They aren't sure when they will get any more.
