New SW22 Victory red dot question
I have been looking around the past couple weeks at various 22LR pistols for target and plinking use and had it narrowed down to the SW22 Victory and a Ruger Single Ten. Finally opted for the SW22 and found one at the local Academy. They were also available at Bud's online. $380 at Academy and $358 at Bud's with retired military discount. Went to Academy today and picked up the last one they had in stock and they priced matched Bud's price of $358.
I really like this gun. Took it apart when I got home and really impressed by the quality and the fit and finish, including the mags. I like that it has the fiber optic sights but the rears seem really small and these old eyes have trouble get a good focused sight picture.
I am giving thought to installing the pic rail that comes with the gun and putting on a red dot reflex sight.
Has anyone added a red dot to their SW22 who would like to share their opinion or recommendation?
Thanks

Vortex Venom works well on the SW22 Victory. Visit Tandemkross.com for a lot of add-ons for the Victory including a base plate to mount red dot etc. Good stuff

Try those factory sights before you buy. You'll be surprised at how well they work.

Since the sights are mounted to the frame vs a slide slamming back and forth most any decent red dot will work. Get one with around 6 moa. You will love it. Both of mine like CCI mini mags. Get yourself a Tandemkross adjustable trigger.

I put a Vortex Venom on my Mark IV using a Burris dove tail mount......for me it's just a cleaner look than a pic rail

Thank y'all for your replies, I appreciate the feedback. I haven't had a chance to get to the range yet so when I do and get to shoot with the sights I will be better informed. One problem I have wearing progressive bifocals is getting good focus on the sights. I had an idea and while at Walmart today I experimented getting focus at what would be the distance to the sights with reading glasses. I picked a pair that worked and figured for $5 I will try. Tried with the gun at home and it works and I can get a much better focus on the sights. I am far sighted and although the target may be a little fuzzy I can work with it.
As far as the red dot goes I ordered one of the $20 reflex sights from Amazon and will try putting it on the P-rail and see if I like it. I figure if I don't like it I can return it, no harm no foul. If it works out I can invest in a better quality red dot.

Just got the bargain reflex sight from Amazon and mounted it on my SW22. It's the Lcyyo reflex with red and green reticles, basically the same as all of them listed on Amazon under different names, came nicely packed in foam with 2 batteries, 2 allen wrenches, and a lens cloth. It seems pretty well built for the $30, and the reticles are sharp and easy to see. The photo shows the green dot in circle reticle (photo is fuzzy).
Hope to get to the range soon and get it zeroed and see how well I can shoot with it.

I recently installed a Vortex Venom on my SW22. I haven't shot it yet, but I sure like the way it looks on the gun, and after a little bit of sighting practice in my living room I've now figured out how to "find the dot" consistently and with little effort.

Hi,
Which is the Burris dove tail mount that you are using? I am getting an SW22 soon and I think I eventually will want to put a dot sight on there.
Thanks,
Jim

I love the TC Zero mount, and a Vortex red dot, I shot it open sights to begin with, enjoyed it, but still went to the red dot, also the trigger is a must have, simple and easy to adjust even if you have never changed one out before.

S & W Victory
I have had my Victory since it was first brought out. With the exception of my model 41, its one of my favorit handguns. You can't go wrong with the Vortex red dots. Don't forget to blue locktight the screws.

That's what I thought. They look exactly like the same profile as the Altamont wood grips that I have on my SW22.

Will a Sig Romero Zero work on the Victory? Someone on another site has one for sale at a pretty good price. It's a 3 MOA.

I was running a Burris Fast Fire II on my Browning Buck Mark for quite a few years. Great optic and accurate. But, I always had a little trouble picking up the red dot in that little window. Just recently I installed a AT3 Tactical 2MOA red dot on it. It's a great optic for $75.00! I prefer it over the smaller FFII.

First post here- this is my wife’s PC V22 that was customized by Jason at MaddMacs Precision. Among other things, it’s wearing a Leupold DPP on a MaddMacs mount. That target was shot at 45 ft.

The single Ten is a revolver. I guess you're choice wasn't limited to one platform. You should buy one of them next. It's one of Ruger's nicest designs.
I have several handguns equipped with reflex sights. With the S10's fiber optic sights, it's one that doesn't need it, even with my near-sighted trifocals...

Thanks- I found this forum looking for info on the PC model 41.
My wife can be a pretty good shot. The old adage about marriage is true...wife: “I like this pistol. Remember, what is mine, is mine and what is yours is mine, Thanks for this beautiful gun.” Therefore my 41.

Actually about 3 months after getting the SW22 I bought the Single Ten also. Can't decide which one I like best.
Target is from my first range trip with both guns, 15 yards offhand, open sights, CCI mini-mags, 25 shots from each pistol.
