Model 41 Red Dot mounts
I know this topic has been going around the traps for years but has anyone yet found a decent red dot mount for the Model 41 other than the rail type mount?
Specifically I’m after one for a Deltapoint Pro. I’ve been hunting high and low for a mount that will fit the factory drilled screw holes that take the rail or one that will replace the rear sight.
I thought I’d found one with Raptor Eng but it looks like those poor buggers have been knocked out of action by the fires last year.
Right now I have a Vortex Venom mounted on a rail and I’m not that happy with the VV so am going to a Deltapoint Pro, but I also want to "slim down” a bit and ditch the rail.
I have an EGW mount that replaces the rear sight for my Tanfoglio and that is brilliant, but they don’t appear to do one that will fit the M41.
What am I missing? Is there such a beastie as what I’m hunting? Am I blind? Or just not looking in the right places??

You can do what I did to come up with a reddot mount for my 4506...design one in CAD and have it machined out on a CNC machine. Loooks like if you knew the dimensions of the rear sight dovetail notch it would be pretty straight forward. It CAN be done!

Thanks for the response, though to be honest I have neither the time nor the inclination to mess around wth trying to fabricate one myself.
Surely given the popularity of the Model 41 someone would have come up with some better off the shelf options for red dot mounts for the likes of the Deltapoint Pro by now?????

I used a #16 Weaver and shortened it to only use the rear 2 holes. I needed longer 6-48 screws than what was supplied with the mount. Thats a Bushnell TRS25 red dot.

Same here. Just shorten and profile the base for a way better look. I've done this for revolvers also.

Check out KKDepot and BME Mounts. They have mounts that fit the dovetail.

Burris offers mounts that use the rear sight dovetail. Might want to check for the model 41. It fits their Fast Fire series of sights (very good by the way), but may also fit others?

Thanks Doug, I had looked at them both previously but missed that BME also has one that fits Leupold - I’ll follow them up as so far that looks like the best option of the two for the Deltapoint Pro red dot.

Thanks Larry, unfortunately they won’t fit the Leupold Deltapoint sight, different screw size and location. It would fit the Vortex Venom that I already have on the rail but I’m definitely changing over to the Leupold - I have the same sight on two other pistols and much prefer it over anything else that I’ve tried (including over the Vortex).

Mind telling us what you don't like about the Venom? I have been considering one and was wondering.

It was actually the first red dot sight that I ever bought (after resisting the need due to ageing eyes for as long as I could) and it’s a nice clear dot on a good looking low profile sight and I’m a bit of a Vortex fan (great service and back up in my experience), but I’ve always really struggled to acquire the dot quickly on it in competition.
Initially I thought it was just me and that I needed practice, but no amount of practice really gave me the quick acquire that I need for comp’ and since fitting Deltapoint Pro sights to my Tanfoglio Gold Match and my S&W 686 I’ve never had the same problem with them.
I can draw from the holster with both of those pistols and be immediately on target with the red dot but whenever I go back to the VV I fall in a hole and struggle to acquire the dot....
The difference between the two sights (for me) is night and day, the VV is simply not the right sight for me when I can do so much better with the Leupold.

I have got pretty handy with my CAD program and will be most happy to design one for you and generate a .step file that you can take to almost any CNC shop to have a mount made. I only need the exact dimensions of the rear sight notch and depth, dovetail angle etc..Just say'n...I do feel your pain as this was the case with my 4506.

Give the good guys at EGW a call. They can direct you to the proper mount to fit the factory dovetail. Be prepared with some measurements of the dovetail when you call.

I’d already contacted EGW and they advised that they can’t help.
However John from BME was very quick to reply to my email and has advised that, although he can’t ship his mount internationally (I’m in Australia), I’m able to buy his S&W41NEW-2000 mount for my combo’ through GLN Global LLC in Round Rock Texas. So I’m going to follow up the BME sight mount with them and see what the damage is price and postage wise.......

Thankyou for the very generous offer, I’ll follow up on the BME sight mount and see what the cost is. If it’s over the top I’ll take you up on the offer as I know a couple of guys at my club who would also like a mount if I can come up with one. I’ll see what I can do about getting some accurate dimensions this afternoon anyway - might be easier said than done. Thanks again

Looks great. If I didn’t already have a Leupold Deltapoint sight sitting here ready to go I’d have another look at the Burris sight to compare it against the Leupold and the Vortex Venom.

Red dot mount for model 41
I am waiting to pickup my new 7" model 41 and looking for a low profile mount to use a Vortex venom.
I have sent an email this morning to a guy in NH who makes mounts as far as I can tell to see if he can make one for me.
BME custom sports products
Barlett NH
If that helps
Sorry I'm new here and was trying to reply to LARKS request.

I've got several mounts from a company called OuterImpact. Give them a shout, they may be able to help.

Another mount source might be Clark Custom Guns .
They do a lot of model 41 work and the mount for a Ruger MKII Target , that had a red dot mounted on it when I bought it , was marked Clark Custom Guns ... I later discovered they had done a target trigger job and mounted the sight on it .
They just might have model 41 mounts . Clark Custom Guns | Established 1950 | Princeton Louisiana

I have low profile S&W 41 dovetail adapters for the most popular red dots in inventory - check kkdepot.com and query S&W 41 or call 585-202-4556

I bought an aluminum Weaver rail and cut it to fit under my optic. It has two mounting holes near one end that match the holes drilled and tapped in the slide. I'm not a rail fan but I don't think it looks all that bad. Yes, I know it needs cleaned.

Too bad S&W didn't do what Clark Custom Guns figured out.
Optics on most handguns create an awkward change to the balance and feel. Integral optic machining with the Clark barrel minimizes the negative aspects of optics usage.
Oh, yeah, and the Clark barrel is WAY more accurate than the factory barrel.
I know this post doesn't help, and probably doesn't even interest, the OP. But, hopefully someone else might find it useful to know.
(By the way, the grips on this m41 are the Herrett 1911 style "Trainer" grips.)
