Anyone have a 4516 no dash and a 4516-1? Or a 4516-1 and a 4516-2?

I know the 4516 no dash is the lightest weight 4516 and the 4516-2 is the heaviest. But I can't find an exact weight on a 4516-1. I need to know either how much lighter a 4516-1 is vs a 4516-2. Or how much heavier a 4516-1 is vs a 4516 no dash.

I don't have a 4516-1 to weigh. Thanks! Regards 18DAI

Its ok. I own a good holster and gunbelt. And I still eat Wheaties and lift weights. :)

I am pretty sure a 4516-1 weighs within a couple of ounces of an Officers model 1911 too. You never hear that crowd complaining about the weight. ;)

Thanks gents! Much appreciated! :) Regards 18DAI

Thanks fellas! :) I appreciate the info! Regards 18DAI

Hello my friend! Actually, I just declined one. As you probably know, I have been carrying and shooting a bunch of guns over the last couple of months. With an eye to paring down the accumulation and settling on one carry pistol, that covers all the bases.......and a couple of fun range guns too. ;)

After all the testing and trying, I settled on the 457. As you know, my 457 has high miles having been used extensively over the last 8 years. So, last night I won a late production, LE Special order (TDR Serial prefix) with metal Novak sights and cheesy laser etched markings. :) The rest of the serial number is my birth month and year.

It will be here next week and I will wring it out and start using it. The CS9 and the 457 will be the only guns in the everyday safe. Storage for the rest, for now..... ;) Regards 18DAI

Yes BAM-BAM. I owned one back around 2014/2015. Too thick. DA trigger too heavy, for me. Heavier and thicker than the 457 I was comparing against it.

I kept the 457 and sold the 245 to a local Priest who had taken Jesus advice to "sell his cloak and buy a sword". It seems he had come to the conclusion - after being mugged in the Church parking lot - that some evil doers could not be saved. I advised him that 230 grain 45, judiciously placed, would redeem them.

SIG made some nice guns, in the P series. But the 3rd Gen 45s work better, for me. More gun for the money too. I will look around though if you still have the 245. I think I may have a couple of mags still hanging around. Maybe we can swap. Regards 18DAI

Actually have 2....One with Big Dot front sight and short trigger and Hogue wood grips ( Now that's a Chief's special) and a two tone (nickel over blue) that I got used and cheap at a local Cop Shop (which actually was a "Chief Special" as it was the U of Pittsburgh Chief's off duty gun).

The 245 is really closer to a CCO concept with the 3.9"barrel.... but they shoot like they think they're a W German 220! :)

I really liked the early 6+1 4513 ...... but mags were a problem.

BTW, to come to the conclusion that the 457 would be my regular carry gun involved A LOT of shooting of multiple pistols.

4566, 4563, 3913, 3914NL, CS9, CS45, G36, PPS, 365, Hellcat, 4516, 5903, G43, HK VP9SK, USP 45c, HK45c, Dan Wesson CCO 45, G30S and 4013TSW.

The majority of those were tested moving and shooting at the Police range. Drawing from concealment and firing on a timer. And shooting drills. A few were shot only on the indoor public "square" range. But were run through drills as well. 5x5x5, HR, Mozambique ect.

The goal was to see what I could get fast accurate hits with and yet carry comfortably and "live with" easily. I am semi retired and looking at full retirement in the near future. While I won't be "required" to be armed any longer, I intend to be. And I will pick up more hours instructing as well as working at the local range.

As my friend Fastbolt pointed out, aging and the accumulation of injuries has made the carrying of larger heavy combat pistols, less attractive, to me, than when I was younger, skinnier and in better shape. And while I am a card carrying member of the shot placement club, I wanted a 45. Just a mental thing based on personal observations, experience and my ability to still control and shoot one well. When the day comes that I can no longer do that, I will go to a 9mm.

Anyways, the 457 is what met all my criteria. Carries easily, for 12 or 22 hours. Low maintanance. Bet your life reliable. Pretty accurate and able to place A hits under speed and pressure. Gods caliber and thin and light. Everything you need in a 45 carry gun. And nothing you don't. ;) Regards 18DAI
