I am searching for some night sights for my new CSX. All I have found are DXT2 Big Dot Night Sights. Has anyone tried these, or something else?

XS DXT2 Big Dot Night Sights - CSX

I didn't known anybody had come out with a set for the CSX yet.

We've been told the rear sight has a proprietary dovetail, while the front was not, but it guess they got approval for it. Cool!

Looks interesting. One review there said they fit the CSX fine & he liked them.

Must be new. Not seeing where anyone else is selling them yet.

Here's a snapshot of that page.

They also have an installation video for the CSX on that page, at the bottom.

I've tried them and really like them. They are very easy to get a fast sight picture with. I have the yellow front sight version. Very easy to install, just watch the install videos.

I just ordered a set for my CSX. I Got the yellow front. Also, they're having a 20% off sale for Memorial day. I don't know how long the sale lasts.

I installed mine about 3 weeks ago. Their installation video is somewhat misleading in that they don't really show any fitting required for the rear sight but if you watch closely you'll see that skipped over on the rear but showed it in detail for the front.

The dovetail's base on the front & rear DXT2 sights each measured ~.010" wider (front-back measurement) than the factory sight's dovetail which would imply each would require similar amount of fitting but that's not what I found.

The front required a lot of filing to get it to fit 1/3 of the way in the dovetail & then was a snug fit to center.

The rear, for some reason, very quickly changed from too tight to a not very tight fit so make sure you go slow on it. It has a set screw & a center notch for it to tighten in to so it's still plenty secure.

Their video shows to add the supplied red threadlocker after the sights are fitted. I didn't see a need for that step plus wouldn't you use a wicking/penetrating green threadlocker for after assembly use if that was needed?

Thanks Blue. I will check out the installation video, and plan my work, using your suggestions.

I just ordered a set for my Colt LW Commander. They are having a 30% off the entire web site sale for the 4th. I don't know when it ends.

I recently purchased and installed a set of the XS BXT2 sights on my CSX but I hope I haven't run into a snag.
I have installed dozens of various dovetailed type aftermarket sights on various customers pistols and for myself. I have done enough of them that I broke down and bought the MGW Pro Sight tools and accessories.
I started my CSX install with the front sight as I knew that would be the most difficult. I took 30-45 minutes, slowly stroking the BOTTOM of the sight across a fine file and then transitioning to a stone. The sight's fit was checked continuously until the front sight started into the dovetail approximately 1/4 - 1/3 of the way. The MGW Pro tool made the rest of the installation controlled and without issue.
When I started on the rear sight, it wasn't even close to starting into it's dovetail. Due to BLUEDOT's advice I was taking one stroke across the file at a time then trying the sight's fit. BLUEDOT is 100% correct, with one stroke the rear sight went from not fitting, to being a slip fit in it's dovetail. Again I don't believe that will be a major issue as the rear sight is secured with a set screw.
Now the potential issue. I did not apply the supplied threadlocker to the front sight at the initial install, as I wanted to test fire and do my final sight adjustment before gluing it in place. At the range I made 1 small correction to the front sight and upon firing a couple rounds to confirm the front sights position, the front sight started walking back out the way it had been installed. I've re-installed the front sight and it is now a very snug slip fit in it's dovetail. I have re-centered the front sight and applied the threadlocker as instructed in the video and I'll just have to see if that secures the front sight in position.

Well bummer about the front sight. Hopefully it won't be a problem now.

Did you use the red threadlocker they provided? Did you add it before you re-installed/fixed the front sight or after?

Yeah definitely weird how the rear sight changes so quickly when fitting it. I've never had that happen when fitting any other sight too.

I used the red threadlocker they provided and applied it just like they instructed, after the sight was in place. I'll just have to see if it holds. If it doesn't I give XS a call and see what they recommend. At the worst I could get a stronger wicking threadlocker from Loctite.

My front sight on installation Broke. XS sent me one free. I didn't care for these tho. Set too high for my liking.

One item of note, since the new rear sight doesn't have a traditional notch in it, only the night sight insert to align with the front sight, the front sight has to be fully in view above the rear sight so the POA = POI.

At the distance of 10-13yds that I usually shoot this at the Big Dot needs to cover the bullseye for proper sighting, no 6 o'clock hold like the factory sights. Getting used to keeping the Big Dot fully above the rear sight took me some getting used to.

.

PS: while you have the factory rear sight removed you might want to take the time to remove the firing pin and clean the firing pin's channel.

The CSX's firing pin stop can only be remove by sliding it up (not down like a 1911) which can only be done with the rear sight removed.

THANK YOU for that pic! After reading this thread the other day I found myself wondering if the CSX sight had anything under it (like a 3rd gen does). Asked and Answered! :)

I didn't mention it, but in case it's not apparent to those unfamiliar with the style, like the 3rd Gens the CSX's firing pin safety plunger/lever are just forward of the firing pin stop in my picture, both under the rear sight.

Thanks mikerjf :)
