422 Date of Manufacture

Hello All: I just picked up this 422 and was wondering about the production date.
Ive looked at some info on this here but cant make much sense of it.
The first 3 characters are UAF

You will get an answer shortly I'm sure. I generally send an email to Smith & Wesson with model and serial number and they reply in a couple of business days or so with a year of manufacture.

Nice 422 - mine is from around 1988/89, it has a TCL prefix. I had a dovetail machined in the frame for a fiber optic front sight. I love mine and it shoots very well.

Nice. I shot mine today and I'm not crazy about the front sight.
In bright sun the top edge of the sight blade can get a glare and kind of blur. A dot like yours might be nice.

PS. There are mags on eBay for even less.
