My Model 41 loves CCI Standard Velocity Ammo. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any for the past several months. I checked the specs, and CCI Subsonic Ammo is similar in velocity to CCI Standard Velocity ammo. Another difference is subsonic ammo has a hollow point.

Has anyone tried CCI Subsonic ammo in their Model 41?

FWIW, CCI Subsonic has been unreliable in several of my semi-autos that run fine on SV.

SV comes in/out of stock regularly at a number of online retailers. A quick check showed it in stock at both Midway and Targetsportsusa.

At this moment, CCI has it available on their website. $4.99/box, maximum 30 boxes, free shipping at $99. Also, IIRC, Walmart sells the SV.

Remington Sub Sonic was a great round about 20 years ago. It was extremely accurate in my heavy barreled target rifles. Then something changed and it was not as good. In autos it lacks the velocity to operate the slide in some. Most auto pistols will run with SV ammo and a few need HV ammo. Leave the Sub Sonic to revolvers. Or at least this is my rule to shoot by.

I did try it once and with the Factory 7.5 pound spring it did not feed correctly. I suppose that one could put a lighter spring in and try that. Accuracy also suffers with the Sub's.

Tried some cci Quiet .22 in my M52 which is already so quiet with ccisv that I don’t even wear hearing protection but found the accuracy poor. Haven’t tried it in my M41 but I will.

M52? As in 38 Wadcutter S&W Model 52?

No, as in M52 PreA Winchester rifle. Dates from March 1924. Almost 100.

CCI sv is 1070 while their Quiet or Sub sonic shows 710. Not exactly close. I've used the Quiet in my 41 but no, it will not cycle. I just do it by hand.

FWIW there are a variety of CCI subsonic .22 LR variants. I have used the semi auto variant with success but I don't own a model 41. Some of the other variants have velocities much lower in the 700 FPS range rather than 1050 and won't work in any normal semi auto.

You might try the Aguila SSS 60 grain Muzzle velocity is 950 fps with energy of 120 ft lbs. compared to cci sv is 1070 fps with 102 ft lbs energy. I have no tried it in the 41 but cycles the 422 just fine. Too expensive to just plink with. Usually around 50 cents per round.

Have never found a gun that the Aguila SSS shot well in. What are you using it in?

I clean forgot about Rem Subsonic. I have several bricks of Cyclone, Thunderbolts and Subsonics , pre 2000. The Subsonic was good squirrel ammo and preformed well out of Savage 24 for accuracy. Will no suppressor it had no advantage over Std Vel as far as noise level.
