I have a Model 46 7" barrel with a screw on underbarrel weight. I bought it "as new" off eBay where it was misrepresented as a Model 41 barrel. It does appear to be in at least "near perfect" condition. If anyone can help me with what it might be worth so I can try to recoup some of my loss, I will greatly appreciate the assistance. Google search did not find a comparable for reference. Thanks in advance.

Is it factory drilled and tapped? FYI the model 46 was discontinued in 1968.

No recessed target crown, top of barrel is not ribbed, rear site is smooth finish and slightly smaller. Final point is that it will not fit on the 41. I.e., trigger guard will not close. I read somewhere that the 46 barrels are not machined for the trigger adjustment like the 41s. Not drilled and tapped.

Mr. 24, Im sitting here looking at my 46, and you are correct. Now to your value dilemma. Plainly stated, if you break even for a barrel you cant use, you are OK. So, what you got in it? I have 2 mod-46s, so I dont need it.
Also the side bottom of the breech is squared off, to match the square cut in the slide. Is that clear?

Aussie, where have you been? Agree, but people dont like to hear "some fitting may be required". Its a drop in world over here. All 41 barrels should just drop in and function perfectly. Even though that is not the case right out of the box. Back to the OPs question, what can he get out of it to cover his costs? In US dollars, not that kangaroo money you guys use. Mike

I sent you a PM.

I don't expect that there is a big market for 46 barrels, unless you have a 46 frame without a barrel. The 7" is the most common. The weight has value especially if it has the proper attachment screw. I paid $150 for a NOS weight (in a box) a couple years ago. Personally I'd be hard pressed to pay more than $100-$150 for a 46 7" barrel, but others opinions may vary.

Hahaha..our kangaroo dollar is only worth .64US....so I need a mortgage to buy toys from the US.
It does however also means 4 or 5 of my 41-1s cost US$192.41 each

There were not a lot of Model 46s made. The number that I saw is 4,000. That puts it at about where the K-32 is for scarcity. Also, I believe that a number of these were delivered to the Air Force for their pistol team.

A local gun store had one of these recently that still had the box and literature. This was only the second one that I have seen. It still has its original brown plastic stocks in it but the previous owner included a set of Model 41 stocks.

If you bought it to use on your 41, it will fit. No fitting should be required at all. I have a 46. I use it to host my 41-1 conversion kit to shoot shorts and CB caps in my basement. It works every time.

Yes the model 46, 4000
The model 16, 3500.
I have 9 model 46s and zero model 16s.
My opinion is...a large majority of the 46s stayed in the US. A large majority of the model 16s did not. A few 46s came to Australia, very few model 16s. Of course the 16 -4 is not included in these comments.

Model 46 Barrel Update

Here are pics. Note flat barrel top, no cutout in the barrel lug (will not fit in a 41), no recessed muzzle, barrel weight & screw, etc.

That 46 barrel will fit a 41 frame. The 41 slide will not fit as the slides are different. Try fitting without a slide, and yes I know it will not function.

If you want to fit a model 46 barrel to a model 41 frame you must have the correct model 46 slide.

I earlier posted a picture of the barrel attachment lug on the Model 46 barrel. It has no machines cutout. Here is a picture of a Model 41 barrel lug for comparison. Left picture is the 41. Right is the 46. The lack of the cutout is why the 46 barrel will not seat in either of my Model 41s.
