Default Took my 3914 to the range

Had some time yesterday so I headed to the range with the 3914 and a bag of ammo.

It turns out that the extra mags that I had snagged from the bargain bin aren't factory. I think that they are ProMag with replacement red followers. I'll grab a couple more off of Ebay.

So three mags. About 150s rounds fired without a hiccough. Lead conical bullets, FMJ, and hollow point. Looks like the ProMags work.

I have thousands (literally) of NRA 50 ft pistol targets so I use those for everything. Holding in the center of the black, everything stayed in the black at 20 feet.

Moving back to fifty feet, I found that my groups were very respectable when I shot one handed in a bullseye stance. Maybe it is my bullseye background.

The 3900 series are definitely in a class by themselves. The factory magazines are getting harder to find and very expensive when you do. From past experiences, I'm very leery of Promags. You may want to pick up a few factory mags. Especially if you're going to carry this gun.

A friend of mine had a 3913 a few years ago; basically the same gun, different color.

That thing would shoot 5 shot, 2.5 inch groups at 25 yards with me yanking the trigger. Never missed a beat. It was impressive.

My 4566 shoots just as good as my 4506. I kind of think the small Smith and Wesson G3s shoot as good as their big brothers.

Man, I wish S&W would make those guns again. Thats back when Smith was at the top of their game.

I recently traded my 3953 for a 6906. I loved the 3953 but I just couldn't warm up to that DAO trigger. I have a 5906 and 411, the 6906 is the same trigger. Plus it's a double stack. The 6906 was easier and cheaper to find mags for too. If I had the 3914 or 3913 to begin with, I wouldn't traded. I just couldn't find one locally in my price range.

A few years ago, I was looking for something like the 6906 but then realized that the 3913 was slimmer so the hunt changed. I find it odd that 39 mags are hard to find considering how long the gun and its variants were being made.

I just shot my yearly PD qualification with my 3953. Plenty accurate.
It was my former issue gun when I was an Investigator at an armored car company during my second career and was a retirement transfer from there. It was owned by another armored car company prior to being issued to me. I changed the recoil spring and added Hogue grips, extra mags and an Alessi holster purchased off the forum. Being an old revolver guy I find the trigger just fine.
As far as mags go there is a current post for 6 mags F/S in the accessories section in classifieds.

I used my 3953TSW to shoot the TX LTC qualification course on Saturday. I haven't shot it or anything for that matter since September. Passed easily.

FWIW, I bought the 3913LS those now sold mags you mentioned went with.
