Default Is this a real factory tool kit?

Thinking about selling a couple 3rd gens soon, including this 3913 I traded into many years ago. The box and paperwork seem to be in pretty good shape, tho the famous wax paper is pretty wrinkled. My trade partner said the CSP is for Colorado State Police. (There’s an armorer’s inspection tag taped to the box but it doesn’t have a department name on it.). What I was wondering about most is the “tool kit”. It was in the box when I received it but not sure if it’s original S&W issue or just something thrown in the box at some point. Would like to know for sure what it is before I sell it. Wasn’t sure whether to ask here or in the collectors forum but I’m thinking that other than the “CSP” i’m not really sure it’s that rare.

Thanks. For some reason I was thinking the S&W rod was the type with a ring on the end rather than that knurled tip.

Cleaning kit is S&W and correct for this 3RD Gen. Nice pistol.

Yep, good memory! They switched to that straight style sometime in the 80's. SCSW 4th edition doesn't give a more precise date.
I always keep my eyes open at shows for factory cleaning rods, whether in a box of misc or even mixed in with the contents of old gun cleaning kits. Many times they're not valued as part of a gun's package and get tossed about. For some reason I see the older looped-end ones a lot more frequently. I offer a buck for them and it's usually happily accepted.

Jim, it's "Colorado State Patrol." I'm not clear on what you were relating in the original post - were you saying that your trading partner said that was a CSP issue gun?
