Default 4566TSW

Just picked this up today. I really need to stay out of my local gun shop.

The third gen 45ACP models are all very nice firearms. May it serve you well.

Thank you guys. I have several 3rd gen 9mm and .40 S&W gun and never expected to find a .45 or 10mm for what I'm willing to spend. I walk into the gun shop today and 2 4566TSWs are sitting in the case. I'm half tempted to buy the other one tomorrow. I'd still be well under $900 for both. I have been going there every week for the past 3 years looking for gen 3 Smith's with no luck. This will be the 4th gen 3 since January. When it rains it pours. And I'm certainly poor now. But happy!

Yes you do want one of those! I have one, very similar except mine doesn’t have the rail attached to the dust cover. My 4566 shoots as good as my 4506, and my 4506 shoots GREAT,

I went on a binge last Fall (of 2023) and it all stated with a 645, then a like new 4506, and finally a TSW 4566.The 4506 slide and 4566 slide are at Trijicon right now getting re-lamped. I can’t wait to get them back. They should be here in a week or 2.

I’m going to buy every Third Gen I can. I may be wrong, but I’m of th opinion the price is going to keep going up.

I agree with yender357, prices are steadily climbing on 3rd gens.

Got a 4566TSW a few years back and then found a deal on a 4586TSW that I just couldn't pass up.

They are really just the same pistol with a minor difference of only four small parts, and I had the parts to change the 4566TSW to a 4586TSW and back (and of course I did ).

Oh yeah, and no red safety dot on the 4586TSW frame.

But like I said, I found a deal.

John

Nice find.
I recently picked up a cherry 4536, that’s currently en route to Smith for the recall.

Well I just ordered a new magazine release for my 4566TSW. $ 15 from Midway. It's no big deal. It should be a 10 minute job to remove the old mag release, 4 days to find the plunger and spring after it flys out of the frame, and another 10 minutes to install the new magazine release. Easy peasy.....😖

I have a 4566TSW that is LNIB. I also had a 4566 that was LNIB. I kept the 4566TSW because I shot it as well as my best Dan Wesson 1911's. The standard model 4566 did not perform nearly as well for me, so it now has a new owner.

I've done some disassembly on my 442 with the gun in a gallon zip lock bag. It helps contain the springs and small bits.

Thanks Gary, I will have a rag to cover the spring and detent right next to me and not use it. I always start out with the best of intentions... I'm that guy that never learns. I do like the plastic bag idea. We always have large freezer bags in the cupboard. That way you can see through the bag. 👍
