Default 2214 sights

Hi people, I would appreciate some info if you wouldn't mind.

I've been offered a 2214 in good conditions but the front sights are loose.

I'm thinking of replacing both front and rear sight with LPAs but I don't know what cut are those...

Do you happen to know that?

Thanks and all the best

LPA model number made for the 422 line is LPA TPU23SM. Word has it that the Novak sight made for the S&W 1911 will fit also.

LPA on my 2214

The front sight is a dovetail cut, a good 'Smith should be able to resolve it being loose..

It is very unlikely you are going to find the 422 LPA sights, they are mostly unobtanium.

Yeah but I was thinking about sprucing it up a little while I'm at it.

A brief search shows that they are quite difficult to find indeed.

The only ones I have seen for sale in the last few years are on a pistol already. There have been a number of 422's that have passed through GB wearing them. The dovetail on the rear sight of the 2214 and 2213 are cut "deeper" than the 422/622/2206 so there is some fitting too make them work, @indigo22 can give you details.

Pictured is the slide of my 2214 prior to adding the LPA adjustable sight. The arrow shows the area I had to have a very fine sliver of material milled off of the back deck before the LPA sight would fit.

From my understanding as stated by shoot summ iit s true that the 2214/2213's are deeper so a slide from a 422 and other 622 and 2206 slides would not need to be milled.

and after

The sight picture is far better than the stock dovetail sight. Does a 3" barrel really need adjustable sights? Likely not but they are nice to have. I would likely have just as nice of a sight picture with the Novak fixed sight.
