Most likely late 73 or first half of 74.

A quote from Roy G. Jinks, Historian, Smith & Wesson:

“Smith and Wesson handguns are produced in a random order. The only time that serial numbers are in order is right after they are serial numbered. Beyond that the guns are processed randomly.”

For example, A196403 was shipped in May 1974 but A218139 was shipped earlier in December 1973.
