Default 3rd gen ejector compatibility

Are the ejectors/mag disconnectors the same across all models? Or vary by frame size and cartridge?

Found my ejector on my 4516 broken and need a replacement. May send to s&w, but would rather just replace it instead of waiting on them. I found one at midway, but it doesn't say it fits 4516. I think i have a spare in my parts box, but not sure what it listed for.

Thanks,
Rosewood

There are definitely different ones but the one for a 4516 (S&W PN# 230190000) is very common to dozens of other models.

Starting to think the ejectors have evolved overtime. My 5903 and 3904 have identical ejectors, but my 915 is longer. You would think they would be the same. I found one parts seller, can't remember the webpage, but it listed the part number u provided on almost all models.

There is a parts list floating around here with pretty much all the 3rd gen’s and after. I don’t remember who shared it but it’s listed as 2013 March retail parts list. It’s very comprehensive and complete. When I copied/downloaded it, it is a PDF which I struggle with in moving to an easily shared document.

The parts list used to be on the S&W Factory web site and you could actually peruse and get most parts direct. Just call them up and order. Some were not technically available due to required “professional fitment requirements” but credentials were not always strictly enforced.

I like data and learning so I appreciate the resource. Maybe you can find the original post or someone can repost for you.

Links to S&W Pistol and Revolver Parts Lists can be found in the "Notable Thread Index" at the top of the "S&W-Smithing" sub-forum.

BTW, ejectors have been improved by S&W over the years.

One improvement was to increase the radius of the curve below the tip so as to reduce the chances of cracking and tip breakage.

Another was extending the tip so as to begin ejection earlier to improve reliability with hotter rounds.

23019000 is the most common ejector.

Found it and downloaded a copy.

Looking through that list, looks like just about all of the 3rd gens are listing that one part number. It must have been an improved part that is being used on all models now. I found a few that were different and are betting they are ones they failed to update on the list.

Thanks for the help!

I had never had an ejector break, but now that I have, I will likely pick up a few spares before availability dries up.

Any other common parts that are prone to failure? I already have several trigger play spring and rivets in stock.

I am not sure the broken ejector affected function, other than the mag disconnector. I had no issues at the range and didn't discover the broken ejector until I took it apart the other night so I could remove the sights to send in to be re-lamped. Unless it broke on the last round fired..
