Default Beretta mags in 4006tsw or 4013tsw?

Saw guy on online selling modified mecgar beretta 96 mags for use in the tsw 40s. Looks like u just need to cut a higher mag catch notch to work. Has anyone tried this? I did verify the 96 mags do fit nicely in my 4013 tsw, but need notch cut to work. They will not fit my standard 4006 mag well. Too fat.

I have also seen an xd40 mag listed for a 4013 tsw for sale.

Thanks,

Rosewood

Solution in search of a problem. Imo. Id just pay up for a few S&W mags before forking money over for bubba'd Beretta or xd mags. I do not see them reliably locking the slide back on empty if at all. Plus the prices are comparable to a used 4006 magazine anyway.

I have several factory mags already..

There is a 15 round Beretta 96 MecGar available. The factorys only hold 11.

I wasn't going to fork over money for a Bubba'd mag. I was going to buy a new mag and Bubba it myself on my benchtop Mill.

Many moons ago, I took a Beretta 96 mag and widened the mag catch hole to match the Taurus mag catch hole and it has been flawless. I did that one with a dremel and file. And the slide locks back on it.

My factory XD40 mags would require a mag catch hole modification to work in my 4013TSW. Who knows about reliabilty. Hard pass.

I'm guessing that 15 rounder must have an extended baseplate. I have never seen a flush 15 rounder for the M96.

I got one of the XD ones to fit, for the reason that it will take an extended basepad. It does not lock back, nor does it spring out of the magwell when the release is hit. I haven't tested it extensively for reliability either but it worked fine for the few mags full I ran with it. So the plus is that it gets you +50% capacity which is significant, but it's far from a perfect solution - more of a toy as-is. I don't know if the Beretta ones work any better.
