Default OK Here We Go, Let’s See Your Mods By guzzitaco

Regardless what they are.

I am so happy that R has applied his appreciation, experience, interest and knowledge in art and applied it to S&W pistols. His canvas is steel and his commitment to detail and excellence is unparalleled. Even when he was just using a file or two.

I asked if he would be willing to work on an extra CS40 slide for me. (Thought about going the 10mm route with it.) I think it was his first CS but he probably tells everyone that. Fortunately he agreed. Unfortunately so many here howled about “ruining” a CS and why do that, (spend the money,) on a “used” CS40. “Slide is going to be too light.” It is not.

My CS40 is way beyond the Value Line Series it originally was. guzzitaco also did the BMCM rear sight mod and “reblued” some controls. TercGen did the grips and oldman10mm sold me MANY 4513TSW mag bases. With the CS40 top end on my CS45, (thanks again JohnHL for the convertible idea,) it is a piece of functional art. At least to me.

I got another, (another,) extra barrel just in case but I’m still apprehensive about the 10mm mod.

There’s going to be some redundancy starting with me but so what, let’s see them.

Jim

Guzzi, have you ever done the PC cuts on a 4516-1?

Here's another he did for me . I found this on another forum , it was rough . I had it sent to Guzzi and he performed his magic . I usually don't go for the DAO , but this one is perfect . It fits my hand just right , and Guzzi slicked up the trigger . All in all the perfect carry gun .

Here's another slide he did for me (was lucky to buy the slide & barrel many years ago). Mounted a red dot on it, makes a fun shooter when mounted on my M3954 frame..... I kinda like it..

Enjoy....

Yes, I did one for myself...

I always take it with me when I travel by car...

BMCM machined and installed with adaptor to run the "thin" recoil rod; that way I can run a flat spring (Bill's idea as well).

More details here...

Ok , here's some more . The slide on the 908 Guzzi did , I really like the 2 tone look on my guns . There's a couple more slides he did for me , and I usually have him put an LPA adjustable on them . I had to put the 457 on here , but most of you that follow him probably saw the post he did . I want you to zero in on the top strap and the rear sight . He did that with hand tools if you can believe it . I've worked on airplanes and heavy lift rockets as a sheet metal and heavy structure mechanic , and there's no way I could do that with hand tools . And I wouldn't think of trying , a man has to know his limits . Seeing his work , who knows what Guzzis' limits are . Maybe we can get him to post a picture of the one he's working for me now . He's done with it , I just had to send him a set of new grips . I can't wait to get this one .

The slide work he did on my unZander 457. Originally a 457s I found a good condition complete slide with barrel for short money on Ebay.

Unlike a real Zander, the black finish will not wear away in a few weeks.

In addition to the refinish, he made several cuts and added front serrations. He also notched and fit the rear site.

It shoots as good as it looks as long as I do my part.

Beautiful craftsmanship.

Here’s a few Guzzi has done for me,
Cleaned up and blued slides for a 908 and a 457.
Blasted and cleaned up slides for a 5906 and 3913
PC cuts on a 6946 and 6906
A pair of 4046TSW’s one slicked and one slicked with front serrations
And the PC9 slide fitted to a 4046TSW frame

That's what I'm talking about! Absolutely gorgeous! I can see myself sending you some work here in the near future! When you get a chance, can you please PM me an estimate to duplicate the mods you've made to yours? Thanks in advance! Trey

Guzzi just did the slide, the trigger pull is factory - which is to say great (IMO). My experience with factory DAO trigger pulls has been almost universally uniform.

I've always been of the opinion that smooth is much better than light when it comes to my 3rd gen guns...

FYI

I used to spend a lot more time on this section of the Forum. Back then, guzzitaco and two or three others who really knew how to describe the work they did and suggestions they gave on classic metal frame Smith auto pistols (you know who you are!), but they started dropping by and posting less often, so I did as well. Good to read some old familiar names mentioned and hear about their work.

This is an amazing thread. I’m subscribing to it for future reference.

I am a gunsmith, but I will confess to not having a lot of experience with the steel frame S&W pistol. I do love them though & think they are the slickest and most appealing pistol out there. Damn shame S&W discontinued the series.

Wish one of these amazing pistol smiths were in my AO so I could learn their art.

Got to keep it alive.

Here is one I did a few years back... I had the fixed sight swapped for an LPA adjustable sight on my 2214 the deck behind the sight had to have a sliver milled off to fit. Yes, it is overkill but it made a huge difference in the sight picture. Personally I would like go to a Novak S&W 1911 sight instead of the sharp edged target sight.
Arrow in picture shows the area that needed to be milled.

2214 now as it sits.

I know. I’ve suggested something like this but no one ever came through so I finally did.

I initially wanted to see examples of guzzitaco’s masterworks all together in one thread, some we have seen and others we have not. Ive never seen some in this thread and the ones I have seen I still appreciate seeing again.

Heymatt’s PC9 top end on a 4046 lower that guzzitaco accomplished still just blows me away.

Anyone with a 4506-1, (Novak of course,) that’s been “guzzied”?

Jim

Awesome work, Guzz!

I really like those slide “scallops.” They give the gun a radical, almost futuristic, look.

I had 2 469's and 2 669's sitting in one of my safes . None are in pristine shape , so I had an idea , which can be dangerous at times . I contacted Guzzi and floated an idea , I'd send him one of each . I told him he could keep one if he gave the other his "Guzzi" treatment . He's sending it on Monday , but he sent some pictures . If I can find a holster , this would make one h*** of a carry gun . I have a couple of S&W 20rd mags that fit this , but it does stick out a little .

Some more pics of Cherrypointmarine's last build...

Slide is from a M6906 with a "curved" back. I added the red "point" on the slide, since there was none on the frame. Why a M6906 slide?...well, I wanted to have a better front sight option...(red dot was a later decision)

hope you guys like it
