Default model 41 mark on slide

there is a mark on the barrel front left which is not a scratch
it is stamped in the barrel and same blue as rest of gun
any idea what this is?

The line is a reference for the adjustment of a barrel counterweight.

That mark is on the older Model 41 barrels, I Believe its a line up mark for the Olympic barrel weights when installed and used on the 7 3/8" barrels such as yours and the earlier 7" barrels that followed the elimination of the muzzle brake feature in 1978. It is a factory made mark, not to worry.

Thanks to 4T5GUY for typng faster than I and supplying a great photo of the Olympic weights on an older gun to really drive that home.

Well IBD, learned something new. I knew those marks are on 7 3/8” barrels and factory. I thought result of machining vise, etc.
