Default Model 457 for Zander Sports?

I picked this up on Saturday. Serial # VZD6543, $531.70 OTD. I tried it out yesterday afternoon. With the model 66-4, shown in photo. The revolver is also new to me. I'm really happy with the results I achieved with both guns.

I “like’d” due to both of your new acquisitions.

Most of the 200 ever produced Zanders 457’s being offered are either totally cosmetically trashed or way too expensive. (In my opinion.) The black top end over the anodized silver lower just looks nice to me. ‘Spesially on a .45.

The 66 is obviously stellar.

I have 2 of them . One was pretty beat up so I let Guzzitaco experiment on it when he first started out . I'll post a pic when I find one , but it's how they should have been done .

I had no idea there was only 200 produced. I thought they were more common. I ran into one several years ago at a really good price, but decided to pass.

Check out this thread. There is very interesting information indicating more than 200. Plus, a Roy Jinks letter stating 200.

I bought a Stainless 457 and then bought a black slide which I sent to Guzzitaco for refurbishing. I called the result my "Unzander Special" and lke your's it came out beautifully.

The problem with the real Zanders is, as you point out, the top end. Like others, I refer to it as the "Sharpie" finish because it wears off so well. I'm typing on the device that doesn't have access to my photos, but I started a thread with pictures on my Unzander.

I know that S&W designed the 457 to be less expensive to build and sell, but the black finish on the uppers is really way to thin for a gun that isn't supposed to live it's like in a box or a safe.

The anodized frames are far more durable whether in black or silver.

I have a regular all black 457, which ideally should have the slide refinished if not given the full Guzzi treatment.

My Zander is VUV69XX. Saying the slide finish was done with a Sharpie denigrates the Sharpie.
