I bought this pistol in 1993 and it is the most reliable pistol I've ever owned. I have literally put thousands of rounds through it with fewer than five misfires. regardless of ammo used. I haven't even changed the recoil spring! I do keep it pristine and lubed.
Anyone else here own this beauty?
Do I have an anomaly here or do others share this experience with this pistol?

It's been a while, but along with all of my other third gens, my 4006,4003, 4043s have all been VERY reliable.

The 4006 is a great pistol. It has been nothing but reliable for me (of course I haven't had it for years and years yet). In my hands it has a natuaral point of aim and I can't seem to recall it not going off, ever. I also have a 4040 and once owned a 4003. All three of my 3rd gen 40's have been great guns.

I've got a 3rd gen .40cal model 410...I thought since S&W doesnt make this gun anymore I would have problems with it. But since owning it for a few months now with almost 1k through it I wouldnt trade it for anything(well almost anything.. )

I think the 3rd Gen s&w's are some of the best guns EVER made. I have owned several and still do. I have the 4006 and the 4006 TSW. Both guns are boringly reliable. My 3913 is the most accurate 9mm I have ever owned, it shoots under 2 inch's at 25 yards with numerous loads.

Just shot 100 rounds thru 4006TSW yesterday, and every time I shoot it I realize why CHP keeps it as their duty weapon. Accurate, mild recoil(for a 40), reliable, quick to follow up shot, and built to withstand the higher pressures of the 40 cal. zorro49

A 4006 was the first "double-stack" handgun I ever owned. My town's PD went to it, replacing the old 59's shortly thereafter.

I was never happy with the "crunch-n-ticker" trigger, especially the double/single transition, and sold it to get a Glock 23. Adding 3 rounds to the mag capacity, together with the uniform trigger pull, made the Glock better in competition.

Then I forsookThe Path Of Darkness and followed the One True Faith of John Moses Browning. I've bought 7 1911's since selling the Glock and never looked back.

I do like my CS 9 and M&P 9, however.
