I do not have a 952, but I hope to get one someday. I do have an X5L1. There aren't many semis that are as easy to field strip as a Sig. Pull the slide back, engage the slide stop, rotate the take down lever, and release the slide. Barrel comes right out. The quality is excellent, as I'm sure the 952 is also. My problem is that I can't really shoot it in USPSA unless I shoot against guns with red dot sights. Then it really needs to be hot-rodded a bit more than it is, and maybe compensated. It is Sig's premier pistol, very accurate. Mine developed trigger issues and went back to Sig twice. First time back, they were so cocky that they did not test fire it before shipping it. Second time back they replaced it with a new one and could not determine the problem. This could happen with any gun, and I have purchased 4 additional Sigs since then.

Do not have a 952, but do have an all stainless P226 9mm (this was a limited production item that was discontinued a few years back). Sig made quite a bit more all stainless 226s in 40 and 357 Sig. The 9mm version was one of the hardest guns for me to acquire ever--and I had an FFL!

Anyways, my all stainless 9mm P226 will shoot one ragged holes all day. It recoils little more than a 22. I paid around $850 NIB out the door. I would gladly shoot against a 952.

I never shoot beyond 25 yards with a handgun. In fact, I mostly shoot at distances of 7, 10, and 15 yards with handguns.

I do like the 6-inch long-slide 952. That is one sexy gun. I have held a few at a local gun store.

You will never find a better trigger on a currently manufactured gun than the S&W 952.

The 952-2 is the apex of the gunmakers craft. +1000 to what Tsquared has said. Mine is the finest handgun I am privileged to own. The M52 is right up there with the 952. Just my opinion.

Now go ask the question at the Sig forum. At 50 yards it's more about the shooter, unless you're using a ransom rest. I think you'll find the European shooters prefer something other than a Smith & Wesson.

I have 3 M-52 (w/wo wts., and scoped), 952, Les Baer Wadgun, P-210, P-240 and my buddy has the X5. The X5 has pleasant muzzle heavy feel and trigger is crispy. I understand that 952 triggers have devotees and less than so. My 952 has rather nice trigger, but not as crisp. M-52 is "softer" but nicer than P-210. The P-240 hangs nice in the hand and has muzzle heavy feel but looks trim. The X-5 is extraordinarily "boxy" compared to 952. But 952 could use a counterweight like my M52. Accuracy is same for 952 and X-5, they will outshoot you any day.

They are both great pistols. I'd say handle both, shoot both if you can, and pick the one that fits you best.

I do have 952-2 and x5L1.both developed problems less 50 rd fired.both was send back to factory for repairs.the x5 needed new sear,952 main spring was replaced for stronger one.I do like the trigger and sides on x5 more than the 952s,x5 disasembly is easier too.over all I like x5 more.
