Note: I looked at the wrong gun when initially typed this. Looking at the pictures again, the 3983 uses the round firing pin retainer.

Going a bit further into wishful thinking land. I noticed that the firing pin retainer is the same shape as the later TSW DAO guns. I'm idly wondering if the guns would be as easily converted to DA/SA as those later TSW guns.

Not that it's likely to happen as the polymer framed guns are easier to make and more profitable.

That’s an awesome set right there. Love the DAO pistols, I just never seem to hang onto them though.

Default Sharing a few pics of xx44 xx46 DAO

Nice pics everyone !! I have a 5946, 2 4046's, and the pictured 4044 4046 and 4046TSW, 6946 and 6944, and like you all, feel lucky and fortunate to have found these.

The Stainless semi's are just magnificent chunks of joyous steel for easy shooting fun...thinking of running one for IDPA...anyone use the Duty S&W duties for IDPA?

Really enjoy the DOA triggers and the TSW is even better...smooth action on all. need a .45 or two for my collection ... or do I ??

Thanks for sharing and showing off everyone...great to see some beautiful SMITH and Wesson history here !! 3RD Gen Friend
