It was the gun only, with 1 mag. I don't think the mag is factory because it does't have the extended base plate. It's about 98% with no real noticeable wear.

I picked-up mine for $349 in the same condition. Not bad for only 550 being made. I will probably have Lobo do a basic pancake for me to carry OWB.

I shot it today, it shoots WAY low. Might be my ammo.

I think S&W had some real problems keeping the right sight parts in the right bins. Just like my 4566 and 3914, chances are it has the wrong height front sight (too tall). According to Numrich, it should have the .216" sight, measured from the bottom of the dovetail to top of the blade. I will check mine for a comparison.

Since the standard load of the period was the 180 gr JHP @ 950 - 1000 fps, the gun may print low if you are shooting some 135 gr +P stuff, even with the correct front sight.

Can I just drift the front sight out and drift in a shorter one? Is it pined in from underneath or anything?

Did you get it in Ohio? If so I may have seen it. A 4014 is my daily carry.

I think that is my favorite stop in my travels across Ohio. Good group of guys there.
Any luck with the shooting low issue. I have the same issue with my 3913 and have not figured it out yet.

There are 3 fin feather and fur locations in Ohio now. I am constantly finding excellent deals there. I just last week found a near mint S&W 10-8 for $325.00.

I was thinking about trying to find a lower factory front sight....maybe I'll call S&W and see if they have any options.

I saw that gun in Ashland. It was in mint condition. I wanted to buy it but just bought a Browning Gold Superlight 20 gauge, already have one 4014, need a new O/U for Sporting Clays, and have out of state tuition due for our son. It was painful not to buy it, but I'm glad one of our members bought it!

I tried to get them to hold it for me with $100 down, but they currently won't due that with pistols and AR's. (since Sandy Hook).

Congrats to you!

My 4014 shot slightly low and left as compared to my full size double stack 3rd gens, but most of that was cured as I worked on my grip/trigger pull with the smaller/slimmer gun.

FWIW, On my Smith & Wesson shorty 40, the first few times to the range it was "shooting low" I just had to get used to the recoil impulse on the short barreled 40 as I was unintentionally anticipating the shot. Now that I have a few hundred round thru it, Im tuned in to it and its on the money 6 o'clock hold. A fine CCW weapon by the way, none finer. Congrats on the score

My 4040PD out of the box shot low. Just to make sure it wasn't me I had 3 other guys run it. S&W was awesome. They took it back, resighted it and verified. Got it back and its been perfect since.

My 4563 was shooting low when I first got it. Used the above calculator and it showed me the right correction. I ordered the closest front sight in height ( it was for a 4013, but worked exactly) and slid the old one out, new one in, and it was dead on. Really an easy fix.
