I am planning to buy a Model 945 Performance Center. There are not many photos of those on this forum. Would you care to post some?

I would also be interested in the level of accuracy to expect from this gun. My 945 would become a competition gun so every bit of accuracy helps.

You can find a photo of the Model 945PC on the S&W website. Of all the 45 ACP semi auto pistols I ever owned, the S&W 945PC and Pardini GT-45 were the most accurate and reliable right out of the box with excellent triggers. I used both of them in bullseye pistol and practical pistol matches. I finally sold the Pardini GT-45 but have kept the S&W 945PC. My gun consistently delivers 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups at 50 ft. with 185 gr. LSWC or 200 gr. LSWC. The only minus of the S&W 945 is that it does not use magazines or grips which fit the 1911 frame styles - a small price to pay for perfection.

Go to GunBroker and search for S&W 945 and/or Performance Center 945. You can get pictures and prices. Now is a good time to buy the high dollar PC 945s as the prices are depressed by the uncertainty in the economy.

I have three, wouldn't mind adding a 5" blued 945 with the wavy serrations (don't see too many of those around). Here's my three:

5" stainless:

4" stainless:

4" blued:

I really like the 945 model, and I'm sure you'll enjoy yours as well.

I need a 3 3/4" one but they're extremely hard to find and quite pricey.

Tom, what's the story with your middle 5" blued model? I've never seen a 945 with straight slide serrations before...fishscales, yes, and wavy serrations (ala PC1911), yes...but never straight. Is that a one-off custom order or...?

Interesting. Thanks for posting -- I thought I knew every variant there was of the 945 model, so it was great to learn there was (at least) one I wasn't aware of.

Here is a 945 (no dash)

Accuracy? This is the very 1st sight in target I shot, many years ago. It only gets better from there.

The 945's with the hex head grips screws... after market or did they come that way at one time?

I'd like to replace the slotted screws on mine.

Beautiful Tailgunner. Couldn't you find a lower serial #? I just DROS'd a wavy seration in the BAM00xx range.

Does anyone know when they changed the slide serations? I have a no-dash with the wide serations.

They changed nothing. They just had a few special runs with different serations.

Yep, that one there's the one I wouldn't mind adding to my 945 stable. Especially so if it's the one with the orange front sight. They had a number of those come up on Gunbroker a year or so back, and I foolishly let them all slide by. One of these days I hope another will show up for auction.

'Course, I need to get a 952 before I worry about another 945...but when has logic made much impact on gunbuying decisions?

I am new to the forum. I have a 5 inch stainless 945 for sale. sn is rsa0091. It has about 4k soft ppc rounds through it. It comes with 10 magazines. It is a tack driver. I bought it to shoot ppc, which is a dying sport here in southern illinois. I am asking $1200 for all. pics available on request.

I received this 945-1 last Monday. The fired case envelope is dated 11-13-08, so it’s pretty current production of what the S&W customer service rep called the two-tone version.

Chad,
very nice. My favorite color combo
The factory pics of the 170300 show only the slide flats polished, not the slide and frame.
I may have to check into this
