The CS series seems to be held in high regard by all who shoot them. The CS 40 and CS 45 are built on the same frame; the CS 9 on a smaller one.

In May 2008 this 17 year revolver guy got his first semi auto a NIB CS9.The double to single action trigger took a little getting used to but I now absolutely love it.The issues I had with mine were 2.The first was the Hogue Rubber Grips. They had a terrible tendency to print out the pistol on whatever shirt I was wearing. The cure came from pics of the custom Delrin grips Big Dog had made for the CS40 and CS45.I was "The CS9 Delrin Grip Crash Test Dummy"and on the third attempt they were great. The Grips make it much more concealable and comfortable to shoot http://entertainment.webshots.com/ph...47709249ENHLAc .The second issue was that at 7 yards it was always shooting low.I thought it was my inexperience in the semi auto world, but after 3 fellow pistol instructors had the same difficulty I thought I would have to live with it.I then put on Trijiton Night Sights and problem #2 solved. It is 100% dead on.Never thought I would live to see the day where I grab my CS9 and extra mag before my trusty 640 for carry.Take you new CS series gun ,shoot it and enjoy.......God Bless.....Mike

I've had the CS45 for a while now and have had NO problems with it. Very accurate - more so than I am. Not as much recoil as you'd think for a .45 caliber. Great quality solid built handgun.

VERY accurate shooter too. Hits what I aim at....

I only wish Crimson Trace made laser grips for it.

I recently acquired a CS45. It is a blast to shoot. Very solid build and very accurate. One of my favorites.

I love my CS40. It's on my belt all the time lately, except at work where I would get arrested and fired, probably in that order.

My CS40 is dead accurate, hard hitting, eats anything, 100% reliable DA/SA, hammer fired and is an easy weapon to CCW as it disappears under a light t shirt, what's not to love?

My CS9 has been perfect in every way. I just retired it to the safe in favor of a M&P 9c. Even though it has been carried it is in near perfect shape with the box and papers. That is the way I want to keep it.

In this area CS9's, 40's, and 45's are few and far between. While it might not be as collectible as others that reside in the safe, Smith is not making any more of them and the price for nice specimens just keeps going up.

Just traded a Beretta Nano for a two tone CS45 a little while ago. Seems like a solid little gun. Mine has Big Dog grips plus the factory Hogues. May be just me, but the Hogues don't seem like a deal breaker for me at all. May put them back on and see how they do. I'm just a Smith nut, and while the Nano was nice, it's just not a S&W, and doesn't have the S&W reputation for reliability. BTW, can anyone date this gun for me? The third edition of the S&W book doesn't really embellish anything on them, and as a matter of fact, kinda gets some facts wrong on them if you read the section on the CS45. My serial is EKW6xxx.

I have two Chief Specials - 9 and 40 - and I'm always on the hunt for a 45. Love them both. They both need new recoil springs more often and it's a good idea to order a few extras while S&W still have them. I haven't found any other aftermarket spring makers producing them.

They shoot like a dream - the forty's like a "petulant woman" in that she's very snappy but controllable. The nine's more comfortable but there's no discounting 180gr's at 1080fp's put forth by the CS four zero's "petulant" power .

I have a CS45 and if/when I get the chance I'll have the other two as well. Great shooter with stock grips.

Respectfully, I haven't taken a shine to my Big Dog grips on my CS45 as well. They fit the pistol beautifully, look great, and reduce the profile of the pistol; that said, my mitts like the stock grips.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread topic...

If ya want to divest yourself of the BDs... I think they would fit my CS40 I would like to eventually have the CS9 and the CS45 just cuz. But if I could only ever have one of the 3, the CS40 is fine I will be happy to own the "middle child"
