I've heard that an asterisk * after the serial number on an S&W denotes a factory re-blue. I know what an A prefix to the serial number means regading the Model 41, does anyone know what an A suffix means? Serial # A14--8A.

Thanks in advance. Sorry no pic.

No Picture needed, this was due to duplicate serial numbers. The book say's the A prefix started at 115000, but there are many semi autos out there with A prefix under that number.
I do know of a 5 digit serial number with the A prefix. I have a 52-2 which has the A prefix under 115000, plus the A sufix.

That particular 41, A140448A, is a duplicate SN -- I asked a fellow Forum member about it since the suffix "A" is etched on the frame, not stamped as I had assumed S&W's practice would be... must be correct because the 41 was quickly sold on GB to a very knowledgeable dealer.
