I saw a Model 2206 at a local gunshop. What are user experience with this model in terms of reliability? Does it function well with standard velocity ammo or does it require HV ammo? Any particular problems with this model?

I've had two of these and was happy with both. I prefered the weight of it over the lighter 422/622 versions. I shot mostly standard velocity ammo through them, both were 6" adjustable sight/trigger models. The down side was they were harder to tear dowm to clean, and the mags that are the same as the 41 were about $40 back then, they're about half that now.

interesting gun
I have a 2206, bought used. It kept stove piping when i first got it and i called S&W Custom Shop and had it returned. I don't know what they did but it works great. it is an unusual gun and frankly, i like its looks. it shoots perfectly and very comfortable to shoot. i don't know why someone said it was difficult to clean. It is relatively simple. If you find one, get it as it is not something you see very often and it is dead on.

How much was he asking and are you thinking about giving it a new home? I love the whole series. Easy to love, hard to have just one.

Bought a new one when they came out in the early 90's. Mine is a 4.5" with 3 white dots, perfect companion gun to the centerfire 3rd generation semi autos.

Were the three dot sights from the factory and would it be possible to get some photos of them? Thanks.
