Default 4566 TSW No Rail??

Just "rescued" a 4566 TSW with no rail. Gun did not have a slide lock, which is probably why I got it for a good price.

My guess is that is a police trade.

Has no rail, dead night sights, and has been fired some (there is some triangular shaped peening on the frame rails), and the logo is mostly worn off.

Has not been cleaned for some time and is drier than the Atacama.

Anybody know if this is a rare or semi-rare gun? It should be a good shooter in any event.

It is not too different than the 4563 TSW which I rescued last year.

S/F,

RAS

Very nice! I always wanted to find one without a rail, but had to settle for one with a rail. Oh well. Congrats on your find!

Very nice score...Congrats!

Is that the one I saw on GunsAmerica? I was eying that one too but didn't have the scratch. Those rail free models with the clean dustcover are quite uncommon. Usually you see rail free models with a drilled dustcover and two countersunk holes plugged with aluminum rivets.
I got hold of one of those some time back that had a lot of mileage on it. I had to replace several things and now it's good as new and shoots like a laser. It's now become one of my favorite "serious use" pistols.

Gratuitous pic.....Mine looks like this now

I think you won't be disappointed... BTW If you have trouble sourcing a slide stop, I may have a spare in the bin (still have to check). Let me know.

Cheers
Bill

I've wanted a 4566TSW like yours for years. I saw one at a gun show about 10 or 12 years ago but had to decide between it and a 3 inch 29-3 with fingergroove combats. I went with the revolver and love it but i still watch out for a 4566TSW. Congratulations.

Default Thanks for the input

Thanks for the input gents.

Arik - I believe you are right. My gun came from a fellow in GA.

18 - Thanks for the PM. I will forward his info to you.

Chief - yes, it was on GA. He had the same one on Guns Int'l for $375 vice $325. Thanks for the offer, but I have a shoe tub full of 3rd gen parts, including a slide stop. BTW - would you happen to have a 457 and or 915 single sided safety? I would be remiss in not mentioning that I am still in awe of your 4516 project.

I will strip the gun, re-spring it, maybe put on new sights and let 'er rip.

There are two 4567's on Guns Make Us Broker right now - one from our own Haris. If I snag one of those, I will have the beginning of a 45 collection as opposed to an accumulation. A no rail 4563 TSW, no rail 4566 TSW, melonite 4566, 4506-1 with the ACE 45 Super conversion, and a 4516 ND. A 4567 would kind of complete the basics.

What say you fella's???

It's still a disease, I tell you.

S/F,

RAS

Have Trijicon re-lamp the sights - I believe it costs $57 now.

Exactly correct. I just got my invoice on getting my 5906 relamped yesterday and it is $57.00

FYI, figure on 6 weeks or more on getting them relamped.

God should not force us to make such tough decisions.
