Default Wilson 22LR conversion

I'm thinking about the Kit to use on my 1911 DK. It is suppose to interchange with the 45 Slide. Any comments. Anybody have one?

I have been thinking about that very thing with the same 1911. I would be very interested in the outcome here.

Or a Kimber, Marvel, or Kart conversion?

The wilson conversion is made by Ceiner. It just costs more.

Ceiner used to make conversions for Kimber, quite a while ago. Then, someone over there realized they could make their own.

Kart and Marvel are supposed to be the most accurate.

I had a Colt Ace !! conversion kit and thought the ceiner was better made.

If Ceiner makes it I'll treat it like the plague. Their customer service so substandard. Unaccommodating & rude...and insulting. Regardless of who sells it I do not want their name in my house.
I will look into the other brands. Thanks.

marvels are best currently available. if you can find a kart they are super. stay away from anything ciener makes, mostly for the reasons stated above. they are generally unsympathetic if you have a problem.

Don't ignore the Advantage Arms conversion units. They make a standard and a "match" unit which uses a slide arrangement similiar to a Model 41. I bought the match version for my Gold Cup and I'm very pleased with it.

I resisted purchasing a Ciener for some time but finally came to crunch time when my sone "borrowed" one of my Marvel units. My Ciener unit performs flawlessly with a wide variety of ammo both SV and HV. It is a bit more of a pain to disassemble for cleaning compared to the Marvel, Advantage Ams and Jarvis or Tactical Solution units. The Tactical Solutions unit is an all steel unit, an improved version of the older Jarvis unit.

Isn't it a fact that none of the aluminum ones have a hold open on last round, but the steel ones do? I think that's what I have heard/understood about the Kart, but not sure.

Why the Aluminum or Steel. What is the reasoning.
Anyway, I'm doing some research and would like to order one asap.
Thanks for the replies.

EDIT: ADVANTAGE ARMS...this is interesting...
What type of ammo is recommended?
The conversion kit works best with 40 grain High Velocity ammo. We recommend Remington Golden Bullets as an inexpensive plinking ammo and CCI MiniMags if you're looking for a little better reliability and accuracy.

Is there any ammo that you do not recommend?
Yes. We do not recommend any Winchester, CCI Blazers, Remington Thunderbolts or Federal ammo except their Automatch brand. Do not use Stinger or other hyper velocity ammo.

I have more Federal Champions than brains. This would be a problem.

I owned a Ciener once, and the accuracy was very substandard. I only kept it about 3 months. I am interested in the Marvel as I understand their accuracy is excellent. Anyone have experience with one as to what type ammo it seems to prefer?

I too am looking for a 22 conversion for my S&W 1911 (Mod 108299). I was told that Wilson made the slide for S&W so I called Wilson on Friday and talked to their tech guy. He said that they didn't make the slide for S&W, just the adjustable target sights. I went on and asked about their 22 conversion unit and was told that they were out and they didn't make them. Marvel (as opposed to Ceiner as related earlier in this thread) was their supplier and gave me their contact information. Turns out that Marvel makes two different kits, depending on how accurate you need to be vs price.

As you can, this is my first post and certainly am no expert. Just wanted to relay first hand knowledge I just received and felt I needed to share.

I hgave used the Marvel, Jarvis, Ciener and now Tactical Solutions 22 conversion kits.

The Marvel product is the most accurate and the only one suitable for bullseye pistol matches. It has an aluminum slide so the slide does not stay open after firing the last round. Totally reliable with a wide variety of SV ammo, requires a different recoil spring for use with HV ammo. Marvel provides first rate customer service.

The Ciener kit has been totally reliable with both SV and HV ammo, aluminum slide dopes not stay open after firing last round, suitable for general use not for bullseye pistol matches. Dissassembly of barrel from slide it much more difficult than with the other three kits. Unfortunately communicating with Ciener is impossible they do not return phone calls or FAX.

The Tactical Solution kit is an improvement on the original Jarvis unit. All steel supposedly capable of having the slide stay open after firing the last round - I have not been able to achieve this with the expensive Tactical Solutions magazines although I have achieved partial success with metalform magazines. My Jarvis unit required either CCI MiniMags or Remiongton Golden ammo for reliable functioning. The Tactical Solutions unit appears to function reliably with a much wider variety of ammunition. Neither is as accurate as the Marvel. Tactical Solutions has excellent customer service.

The Marvel unit provides 1/2 in or less groups at 50 ft. with a red dot sight. The Tactical Solutions unit provides ca 1 in. groups at 50 ft. with the red dot sight. The Ciener and Jarvis, both with open sights, provide a 2 to 3 in. group at that distance.
