I just posted about SW 10mm. Tell me - Colt makes a great 10mm. Why is everyone waiting for SW to make one? I would buy a SW just because it's a SW. That is the only reason.

I would grab an S&W 1076 if I could find one in great condition. Otherwise, I would buy a new one in an instant if they were to make one. My love affair with S&W firearms goes back 35 years. I have S&W .22's, .380's, .38's, 9 MM's, .357's, 9 MM's, .40's and .45's but NO 10 MM's!!

The whole reason I bought the S&W 10xx series guns was because they were not a 1911 clone! I feel S&W could have made the triggers better on the 10xx series and we would not be having the thoughts of the 1911 pistols.
Because the chambers are much better of these 10xx series guns and a very robust platform for my favorite cartridge is why I like the 3rd gen pistols.

It's Christmas and I have no S&W 10mm to buy. If they were available I would buy the 5 inch and compact. Also would buy a few family members them. I'm full on 9s, 40, 45s. Would have to go to the gun store were these available.

As a Deputy Sheriff, I carry a Glock 20, 10mm as my primary while on duty and a Glock 29 10mm as my primary back-up. I have a Smith & Wesson M&P 45ACP that feels like it's an extension of my hand, however with the small capacity of the 45 mags (10 rounds), in the M&P, I reluctantly carry the 10mm Glock (15 round mags), which is the better caliber in my opinion anyway, just not the better gun, because the M&P 45ACP shoots circles around the Glocks where accuracy is concerned. If Smith & Wesson would make the M&P in 10mm and have the 14 to 15 round mag capacity, I would crown it the perfect handgun for Law Enforcement and I'd definitely be down for purchasing a couple of them. I bet if Springfield decides to make a 10mm in their XD series, that Smith & Wesson would lose a lot of their M&P sales to them, and visa versa. The Sprinfield XD series ranks right up there in comparison with S&W's M&P series as far as accuracy, reliability, looks and ease of use. The XD's beat out the M&P's on magazine capacity, but the grip on the M&P's are much better than the XD's. When I feel the grip on a Springfield XD gun, it reminds me of a Hi-Point.

No disagreement here either, 10mm's versatility will trump many other cartridges' performance wise, getting the S&W M&P 10mm chambered as such would be a great performance package.

Since the 'brains' who run the show at S&W haven't had the brains to make a 10MM M&P, i bought a Glock 20 along with a Lone Wolf 40 MM conversion barrel...but no complaints against Glocks, as I own several

I think you got in a hurry there..."Lone Wolf 40 MM conversion barrel"
You must have meant the 40S&W chambered barrel from LWD...
Yes, many are still waiting for S&W to come out with the M&P chambered in 10mm. S&W built the best damn 10mm semi autos back in the day with the 10xx series guns...The revolver were strong as well.
S&W if you would build the M&P 10mm to satisfy the needs of those who know and love this cartridge for what it brings to the party!

Figured I would bump this as I too have been bugging smith and wesson about a M&P in 10mm.
Given the number of years that people have been asking about it , I would say its pretty obvious smith and wesson no longer has the cahonies to make anything in a 10mm.
Sad realization when the company that has made the most models of 10mm is even too afraid to make an updated one.
Its also pretty sad that glock gets to continue to make the 10mm with nearly no reputable competition in the polymer market.
I would like to know what the minimum order quantity to get smith and wesson to make a 10 would be.

I ordered model number 51994, 4.25 10mm. Love it, had some issues to start with but Rock Island took care of it. For a 4.25 the thing is an absolute tack driver.
Now onto the other order of business, BUMP this bad boy right back up here maybe by the time smith and wesson releases an all new handgun line they will have the wax out of their ears and hear that we want a 10mm!

To introduce a little reality to this thread, the only way you're going to see a 10 mm M&P is if one of the major distributors (like Lew Horton) fronts the development, tooling & production money for a significant quantity. Say 4-5000.
Even then, S&W would have to find a way to schedule production. Since they're selling pretty much everything they can make right now, that's going to be an issue.
In short, don't hold your breath.

Absolutely, although I'd prefer a steel frame for the 10MM.

I read on John Ross' website that according to him the Performance Center will make a run of guns if its at least 500
He had some modified 500's made. FWIW

I would lose my mind for a modern company to produce a 10mm. I own a G 29 and a Eaa 10 mm and would love to add it to my collection.

M&P Pro from the custom shop - full size - I'd buy two plus 12 mags right up front. 15round capacity, able to take the heavy loads, fiber optic or night sights....absolutely the best woods gun for bigger creatures going! Would also make a great duty gun. If the Performance Center would make 500 as mentioned above, I'm fairly certain they'd sell out immediately. Is there anyone at the PC we can contact to confirm or check on this?

I dont know about the 500 number, I contact smith and wesson not specifically the performance center about how many 10mm pistols we would have to order to get them to make it.
The answer was quite simply A LOT. They didnt even give a number. Guess Ill shoot the PC a call later this week and see what they say.
I am talking with several barrel makers about getting a custom 10mm barrel for the M&P 45 platform. Wolf makes springs that are more than heavy enough and Apex seems to think the frame can handle it.
Just chasing down all leads before giving up hope.

I'm kind of wondering if KKM some other barrel maker would sell M&P 45 Barrel Blanks? Somebody with some machining experience/a nice set up could bore it out to 10mm themselves and try a conversion.

When I first read the title of this thread the thing that popped into MY mind was a fixed sight M&P REVOLVER!! You know, like the M-58 with moon clips. Now that I would buy. 4", SB N-frame with PC magnas, in BLUE carbon steel. Old school design, not like the new 66. Sorry, but that's just me.

I just read that Sig is going to make a 10mm in the P220 in 3 versions. People kept asking for it so they are building them. Are you listening S&W? We want a M&P 10mm.

Good Lord yes! Even though the 10mm Auto ammo is spotty at best, as far as finding it that is, I would love to own one handgun in that beasty caliber. I think S&W would build a good one.

I doubt that will ever happen. The 3rd gens are history now. The best we can hope for is a M&P or a 1911 variant. If the Sig isn't priced out of reason I might have to buy one unless S&W decides to build a 10mm.

I love my 1006 but I would also love to have another option in polymer 10mm other than Glock. I'd be in for at least 2 M&P 10mm if they ever made them (Pro and Compact)

Can we remain hopeful for the M&P 10mm or even the remake of the 3rd gen 10XX series, just because of their sexy stainless steel construction, the robust and reliable form and function.
Having a custom Performance Center package with conversion barrels for 40S&W, 357Sig and 9x25Dillon...That would make for a great enhancement to such a package!
Sig Sauer, EAA and Glock taking advantage of the current 10mm wants and needs, so S&W you are missing this market share by not having a quality product available...

Shadow my friend, unfortunately S&W is missing the boat. We've been asking for a new 10mm or even a remake of the 3rd Gens and we get nothing. Not even a response. The M&P could be an interesting platform for it as it has some great ergonomics. They *might* eventually figure it out. Then again I *might* start farting monkeys.

Yep, there are at least 3 of these 10mm M&P post here, where many are asking for Smith & Wesson to produce the M&P in for the 10mm cartridge. It would be an interesting pistol that many have a hankering for, me included. Waiting for my next procurement...

Bumping this once more.
Come on Smith and Wesson, make us proud at the shot show. Id love an M&P 10mm. But you know what? I'd settle for a new run of 610's or even a M&P Revolver in 10mm.

Figured Id bump this one as well, Nice to have two posts begging for a 10mm from smith and wesson at the top of the wish list.
Smith and wesson is still playing blind deaf and dumb on this though. The wouldn't even consider a 10th anniversary M&P 10mm limited edition. Heck I'd pay a pretty decent premium over an M&P 45 just to get a 10mm.

Smith and wesson is still playing blind deaf and dumb on this though. The wouldn't even consider a 10th anniversary M&P 10mm limited edition. Heck I'd pay a pretty decent premium over an M&P 45 just to get a 10mm.

Me too. Where's the love, S&W?

I just bought a Glock Model 40 but I would happily replace it with an S&W 10mm. I would prefer a 5 or 6 inch barrel.

Beck when the 1006 was out, I passed it up because the grip just felt awful to me. Went with a Colt stainless Delta Gold Cup in 10mm and never looked back.
S&W has improved the grips on their autos, but, alas, no 10mm now.
So at this point I'm not holding my breath. Will keep shooting my Colt while I look for a used companion Colt 10mm Double Eagle.
As for the Glock 10mm guns, the Glock 20 has significantly more recoil and is slower to get back on target than my Delta Gold Cup.

I find it humorous that they listened to the minority that wanted a 45 shield. But refuse to even consider the possibility of a 10mm MP full size.
I keep pressing, hopefully one day they will listen.

If they build it, I will buy it. I have yet to buy a plastic fantastic of any kind, but it for sure would make a nice companion to my 1076! It is a bit perplexing that S&W won't build it. Should be a fairly straight forward build off of the M&P 45. The only reason not to do it is that it isn't durable enough for full power rounds (hand loads, Underwood, Buffalo Bore, etc...)
