Well, I'll be... It does exist.
Congratulations to anyone who was still waiting for this. It looks good.

Not sure I want to pick up a new caliber to feed. I do like the M&Ps. I have 9s and 40s. Is the magical 10 worth it? Something to think about though.

S&W M&P 10mm Auto
I got a chance to look at Glock Model 20 10mm yesterday. The
"Store" had just received it.
That Glock 20 is a brick. I noticed the magazine holds 15rds.
I'm sure it would be very reliable though. Price wise I didn't
think it was bad. Just not a Glock enthusiast.
Now today I learn Smith & Wesson is coming out with their
M&P in 10mm Auto Pistol! I would really like to see that
one, even though I like their Revolvers.
Thank you for the good News.
Now the waiting begins.

Picture worth a 1000 words
Thank you for taking the time and posting a picture
of that S&W 10mm Auto.
I like that safety, I think that’s a good idea. I’d take
mine with the safety.
Wondering what the street price will be. Thank you again.

Depends, does a more powerful .40cal cartridge appeal to you? Would you have any use whatsoever for a cartridge capable of launching a 200gr projectile at 1200fps delivering up to 700ft-lbs of kinetic energy, even if it's strictly for personal amusement? Could you ever see yourself developing a need for a relatively lightweight yet powerful pistol packing energy on par with full-power .357 Magnum but with 3x the capacity of a standard 5-shot Revolver?
Personally, I wanted one because a powerful semiautomatic pistol appeals to me, and because my residential area is surrounded by woods where hardy predatory animals roam. Granted I haven't gone into the woods in years, nor do I plan on going into those woods, but the wild animals in those woods have been creeping into the suburbs at night, and we've heard them, found tracks/scat belonging to Hogs and even Black Bear in the yard, so the idea of having a powerful handgun to carry should we ever have to do something outside at night is comforting.

Ah, that is great news. Street price is below MSRP out the door.
And just in time too, I was within a month of ordering a Glock M40 MOS long slide 10mm.
Would it be juvenile of me to look back at every post where someone said S&W would never make a M&P in 10mm and laugh at them?

I’m so excited, I can barely stand it. For the last several years, there’s no gun I’ve wanted more than this.

I agree with you. A quality replacement for the Glock 20 with a correctly
angled grip frame that does not feel like a brick, plus an option for a thumb
safety. Wonder when they will actually hit the retail market?

The Shields finally sucked me into the world of plastic pistols. Yes. I'll add one to the pile.

Has nobody ever made a polymer 80% lower for the Glock 20 with better ergonomics? There seemed to be a huge market for such things in every other caliber.

I wouldn't part with my G40 for all the tea in China. Then again, the Glock grip fits me wonderfully.

I am curious. How much would you be giving up between 4 inch and 4.6 barrels in 10 mm?

Maybe 50 feet per second in velocity?
Probably not much in terms of practical usage.

At least one manufacturer does. Can't recall who. It is a 10mm/45ACP large frame. Uses Glock 20/21 slides, and I imagine 40MOS and the longer 45 slide too.
just checked. The Polymer80 PF45 kits.

Rough guess ~30 fps. Go to ballisticsbytheinch.com and get a better idea.
I spent time there when deciding on a barrel length for my XD-M. Went with 5.25".

I can't believe I'm resurrecting an old thread, I rarely post here anymore, though I stop in now and then to see what's going on around here.
But the thread title made me look, and then I read it all, and realized that while YES!...I do want an M&P 10, but not a 4", and not even a 4.6", I want a Longslide version! Springfield makes one, as do a few other companies, and if S&W brought out a 6" version I'd be all over that like a Jaybird on a Junebug.
Anyone else feel that way? Should we start a petition drive or something? I don't want the Springfield XD, I'd MUCH rather have an M&P! With a safety, if you please.

Yes, a 6" MOS slide would make a great hunting rig. I should be picking up my Glock 40 MOS in a day or too because S&W doesn't make a long slide 10mm. I do have a 4.6" M&P 10 though.

Yes, there is at least one maker of an 80% Glock 10mm/45ACP lower.

Here I go again, resurrecting an old thread, but for those who were patient, our dreams have finally come true, with the announcement yesterday of the new Performance Center 5.6" 10mm M&P 2.0.
I already ordered mine, now I'm trying to decide which Holosun optic I'm going to put on it when it gets here.
This will make the eighth or ninth M&P pistol I own, I guess you could call me a Phanboy. I'm so embarrassed. ;-)

Went with other 10mm alternative
Sometime after this thread started, I was offered a CZ CBOB Commander Classic set up with a 10mm barrel/spring and 40 S&W barrel/spring by a local young cop who was drooling with excitement over a classic muscle car he was short on scratch to buy. Offered it to me for $900, all in after being told "that guy over there is looking for a 10mm and isn't interested in a Glock".
Grabbed it as fast as I could make it to the bank. Now my primary Bear Wrench where I live about 20 minutes from Glacier National Park, where the Grumbly Bears regularly wander through the yard.
The big N frame magnum revolvers just don't work for me, despite all the years of shooting PPC and other stuff with K and L frames. And my hands love the bobbed 1911 as much as they love a rounded grip on a K or L frame. I'm perfectly fine with Commander size versus Longslide given why, what, and how I carry it for.

It took them ten years (from when this thread was started) but now S&W offers five variants of the M&P in 10mm so our wish came true.
Glocks, EAA, CZ, Springfield, etc. have their own forum.
