It's about a year now that i ordered my dream gun. Just made my last payment. The gun hasn't come in yet. W.C. hasn't even started building it. I had to sell a few guns [3] to pay for it.
Dream gun-Wilson Combat 1911-45 X-Tac...........
In 60 years this is the most i ever spent on a gun...3k
Now i feel better- I said it 3K.

Usually they start building after down payment has arrived.

Anyway, congrats on your Wilson. It's on my bucket list as well. I would like a Professional model in 9mm. Well, one day...

Tell your wife that this was an investment for the long run. This gun will stay in your family forever.

I have shot a couple of different Wilson XTac's, and I carry an XTac Compact daily.

Never a malfunction, 230 Ball, and HP, 185 Ball and HP, 200SWC lead bullets.
It is a great 1911.

I killed a turkey with a full sized XTac.

I not only like the look, but also the feel of the "X" ridges on the frame and the rear of the slide.

There is only one thing bad about the XTac....

One is not enough.

I have a good friend that's in the service, he is a lover & shooter of a W. C. I told him we will go to the range and i'm going to have him shoot it first. Then he will show me how to clean it. After we run 500 rounds.
I can't wait to shoot it with my Sig X-6 ...
The only bad thing about a W.C. is they are so much money that i had to sell 2 guns.
S&W R-8
Ruger mark 111
It's the SW R-8 that i'm going to be sorry for....

But you only cry once when you purchase it. Then it will stick with you forever...

My first centerfire handgun was a good accurized 1911, @ 1967.

They have been my favorite hand gun ever since. I have owned several great custom 1911's over the years.

IF TODAY, I could have only ONE handgun, for the rest of my life, it would be a Wilson Combat 1911, in 45 ACP.

The FACT is, they are well made, well enginered, well tested/well fired, before they leave the "factory". They get a LOT of hands on work/shooting.

So when you get one, there is NO DRAMA...

I use either a Milt Sparks IWB Summer Special, or a Milt Sparks 55BN, for daily wear.

When hunting, I use a Jackass thumb break holster that has a closed bottom. I think Galco is making that holster now.

My NORINCO build has been awesome it cost me under $400. I used the Wilson combat DVD' s. The AGI DVD' s, and the Jerry k vhs and his 1911 book to learn from. I did all the work myself. Using wolf 45 acp ball ammo she shoots one clover leaf at 25yds per 8 rd mag. I'm sure with match quality ammo it could do better. I fitted a new USGI $59 surplus barrel. Along with a WII national match barrel bushing. For a low budget build using affordable parts an accurate 1911 can be built. This is with the orginal slide to frame fit. I have the proper tools from brownells to tighten the frame to slide fit but it's shooting clover leads at 25 yards no matter who shoots it, it's that good. I figured out how to have a 100% lockup in full battery. Yet be able to swing down with the barrel link with no barrel spring to load another round. The barrel bushing fit to the slide and barrel is the most important thing when it comes to the 1911's accuracy. This work can be done on any 1911 at the fraction of the cost.

I like the belt slide in holster or the in the pants holster. When hunting I carried my 44 mag redhawk in a hip holster with no snap flap holding it in the holster. If a handgun is needed with bear hunting there is to time to dispatch the flap. The action happens very fast. I gave up carrying handguns when hunting when I bumped up to a 338wm.

Proper fitting of the barrel bushing fit, adding a disconnected ramp, tuning the extractor, adding a FLGR KIT W/18# recoil spring then lining the 1911 with moly you pretty much have a race 1911 in your hands.

S&W357

Also let me add that since @1970 I have bought ALL of my pants, yes ALL of my pants, two inches bigger in the waist, than I would normally require, to make room for carrying a handgun "inside the pants" or what is now commonly called IWB, [inside the waist band].

I can even carry an N Frame 44 Mag in a Milt Sparks Summer Special with out discomfort.

I happen to have an early Wilson Combat. Used to carry it all the time..but only place now is around the ranch here. In 5 years I have slain 57 coyotes with it. And probably missed that many more mostly at longer ranges. 75 to 100 yds or so. It is a vry accurate piece with the right load. Mostly use Nosler 185s over a mild load of 231. Reason I no longer carry off the ranch..Lot of cops out there that would like to be able to confiscate a 3000+ dollar gun. I have a Marble 22 Conversion I've never put on the gun. Mostly carry a full size Kimber or a Para Ordnance LDA 6 shooter hideaway gun.

Kentucky Windage?

At the range when my 25yds shoot is over I go out to 100yds on the berm with my cz 85 in 9mm luger using 3' of Kentucky windage to hit small rocks that I can see. I like to practice Kentucky windage often. This way nothing is out of range.

If you are aiming 3 feet high you are not using Kentucky windage...

You are using Tennessee elevation....
