Default L-Frame .44 Spl

Okay, I've been putting a LOT of thought into this, and have some very specific details in mind. So here's my list:

L-Frame
5-shot .44 Special
Blued Steel
Half-lug barrel
Adjustable sights
5" Square butt with checkered diamond target stocks
AND
3-1/2" Round butt with checkered diamond magnas

So, S&W, when can you begin production?

Guess you’ll have to settle for the two versions of the model 69 with 44 spl loads. Kinda disappointing I know.

Are you aware of the Model 696? 3", L-frame, full lug, .44 Special RB with Uncle Mikes grips?

I got a Model 69 in a trade, In full power .44 magnum loading it is a handful, in much the same way as the Scandium framed .44's. I find the 24-3 Lew Horton .44 Special fills the bill nicely. I'm not crazy about the Model 69, however I could see its role for a backpacker. I still prefer a full square butt stocked .44 and have a square to round butt set of stocks on my 24-3, just me.

Indeed I am. But I really would like the whole 5" blued package, ya know?

"So, S&W, when can you begin production?"

Probably when you order 10,000 of them. Ready to step up?

There's a man, right up there ^^^^^^-----who understands what this is all about----bring money!!

And given the cost difference to produce his want, and that of the plastic fantastics--and even their metal stable mates, it ain't likely to happen any time soon---maybe when your youngest grandchild is all grown up-----if they're still producing anything---maybe ray guns.

There's a thought---ray guns---no noise to speak of---most certainly no recoil---and of course no fun at all!! But they'll make 'em if they can sell 'em!!

Anybody want a ray gun?

who would not bei intrigued by a 5" .44 Special in a smaller package than an N-Frame, because it's a lot more handy?
Hamilton Bowen tackled the task although he limited his project to 4", https://bowenclassicarms.com/news/ar..._Have_Made.pdf. I wish, this layout would be available from the factory.

On the other hand, does someone know how the Ruger .44 Special GP 100 Ruger(R) GP100(R) Standard Double-Action Revolver Model 1770 performs on the market?

regards
Ulrich

I'd be more interested in how it performs at the range.

This misses on many of your points,,,, but it's still a keeper for me

I apologize in advance for the thread drift,,, but sine it is a "wish list"
Why not expand the great "L" platform to include the rest of the "4"s. A five-inch, five shot in 10mm and 41 mag. I think an unfluted cylinder should have enough strength. they already produce it in .44mag w/ flutes. While I'm dreaming here, maybe .45ACP and/or .45 Colt?

Default Why?

Sounds like a beautiful gun. Why not have one custom made?
I am curious about a similar attitude, and I do not mind at all, which I have seen from time to time on the semi-auto forum. People express the wish that S&W would "bring back" the third gens. They will even say this about a gun that they now own having bought used. What do they mean? Is it just an expression that means that they really like the gun?

Lipsey’s or TALO maybe. TALO has been responsive to my suggestions in the past.

As mentioned above, the M296 (not 696) is probably what you are looking for with regards to models that have been made in the past.

Here's a pic of a couple M242's which are in 38 Special, but "look" just like the M296......

And here's the flyer for the M296

If a 296 came with SW adjustable rear sights it would fit the bill.

Default 296

Just sold my 296. A little light for heavy rounds, but definitely a nice revolver.
