A M&P full sized .45 framed gun in 10mm would be wonderful for us fans of the mighty TEN.

Having carried and trained with a grip-reduced Glock 20 for many years, I would love a M&P in 10mm. The 5 inch tactical length might be optimal, capacity of maybe 12 rounds, and the grip would be distinctly superior to an "SF" Glock or even one with a Robar/Burns/ARS/Bowie custom reduction. I would line up to buy..

I know M2 Mausers are fairly easy to convert from .40 to 10mm. I wonder if the M$P would be the same. One problem is mags and mag well , that I see, I dont have mine in front of me right now though.

Would be a lot easier with a 45 compact.

I own a 1006, 1066 and a G29. None of these feels or fits my hands like an M&P.

That's an awesome idea! I'd certainly buy an M&P10mm. I've also been thinking seriously about putting together an AR15/10mm, even better if S&W does it for me.

The M&P .40 mags aren't big enough to accept the longer length of the 10mm, so that wouldn't work.

I had a 10mm 1911 for a while but LORD that round is hard on a semi-auto. I would sure love to see a TRR8 style in 10MM. I mean WHEW, what a cannon.

I absolutly wish they would build one. It would be the only new S&W auto I could see my self buying (unless they made a 10mm 1911 as well hint hint!). I have 3 10mm's already and can always use an excuse to get another.

I would buy a M&P in a 10mm. My other 10mms need some brothers.

Yes I wrote them also. I already traded a Glock in .40 for a much better M&P and I will trade in my 10mm Glock for a M&P in 10mm. For the people who doubt it will be strong enough if the Glock can handle it the M&P can.

I own both a full-size MP357 and a Mdl. 1076 and, in all honesty, I would prefer they brought back the all-steel 1000 Series. That said, if they came out with an MP10, I'd be one of the first in line to buy one.

S&W would have done better if they would have produced the M&P10mm instead of the 310.

They must not read any of this stuff because they would have seen the light of day, M&P10 all the way!

Actually, it's really hard on THAT semi-auto. The 1911 can be made to work with the 10mm but that platform is very marginal for a cartridge with the dynamics of the 10mm.

I think there would be a market for it since alot of people are using the glocks with a 6 inch barrel for hog hunting.

Wake up Smith and Wesson we need the M&P 10mm, its over due!

I own, S&W's, Colt and Glock's all in 10 mm, but I'm willing to bet if S&W announced today that an M&P 10mm was available by the end of the year they would not have sold 300 guns. It will not be bought by LE departments as the bad press from FBI and few LEO'S would by their own to carry when dept provides a gun.

Not to sure if a lot of Glock owners would dump their ubber reliable and very, very accurate guns for a unknown (to them) item. I would not not trade, but would buy one just to have one for bragging rights and range gun.

As a shooter with small hands, I would most definitely be interested in an M&P 10mm. I have tried the Glock, Delta Elite, and EAA Witness in that caliber and the pistol grips are just too big for me to shoot comfortably. An M&P 10mm with the different backstraps would be right up my alley! I want one!

The M&P 10mm would certainly be a great gun. The odds are against us, since S&W watches the ammo market for 10mm interest, and most of us who shoot 10mm don't buy factory ammo. Also, a factory rep once told me they have a hard time selling their stock of Mod 610's.

However, there is a possibility if we could get enough people wanting the same exact specs (barrel length, night sights, safety options, etc) they could probably be convinced to do a special order. We would, however, need a lot of people to agree on features and get the money together to make a large order and (most importantly) a distributor who has enough pull with S&W to get the order accepted. Basically, a lot has to fall in place just right to make this one happen.

If enough of us could get together to place an order, I'm sure someone like Lew Horton could/would place an order and S&W would make them for us.

A big distributor could do this. I said this on another thread contact the distributors and put the bugs in their ear. Money talks real loud. A few emails to gun writers and persons like Ted Nugent ( a 10mm fan - big time) and you never know. But first they better bring back the 696!!!!!!!!

Funny thing, they built the 610 and the 610 with those stupid locks,the 10mm is designed for auto use, they all but killed it when they brought out the 40 Short & Weak! Then the do the 310 NG what a joke.

If they would have done the M&P in 10mm it would have already out sold all sales of the previous mentioned pistols...period!

Seems like they are doing the same with the 631 in the new 327 Magnum. Excellent round for the J frame Airweights and what do they do, make 3" all steel, full lug gun.

I have a full size M&P .45. Although I would like to see a 10mm M&P, my .45acp with DT 185's sting the hell out my hand. I could only imagine a hot 10mm. The harmonics with a hot .45acp are not pleasant. JMHO of course.

This old fart with arthritis in his hands can tell you for a fact that the 45ACP has more recoil then the 10mm does. The only thing is the 10 mm is way louder. I reload for 357, 10mm and 44 Mag and only thing I light load is some wad cutters for all three. It has more to due with bullet weight making for recoil, and 45ACP generally shoots 200/230 bullets and 10mm is mostly 170 to 180 gr loads.

The Glock 29SF sub-compact easy out shoots my Colt Delta Elite because it's easy to control and has poloygonal rifling and the 20SF is even better. I had an early M&P 45APC and the recoil made the gun a PIA compared to my 10mm's and was not as accurate as the Glock so I got rid of it.

Hmmm, I can shoot .45 230 ball all day out of my M&P, zero recoil issues and very pleasant. Load up some 185 gr. stingers and that's when the problems start. And no, recoil in itself does not bother me. The gun has a harmonics issue with hot .45's. To put it in perspective, I would rather shoot my 1911 3" 10mm with hot loads before the M&P.

The M&P I had had lot of barrel hop, more then the G20 of mine or the G21 of a friends for some reason and I was not able to get a decent group like I could with the Glocks, the M&P didn't hurt the hands either. I just could not hit with it, so I got rid of the gun. The polly guns have enough flex to help with recoil and they do not have that metal to metal slap that my 1006 & 1086 had, the 1911 does bother me some but I have not shot it that much to really tell.

When the bullets get heavier so does recoil, it psychics. But the vibrations are different, that has to do with other things like velocity and bullet design.

Would I buy a M&P 10 mm, maybe. I don't plink with the Glocks, they are SD weapons and they are excellent for that purpose so why spend the dollars. I am however trying to save for a Night Guard or 610 4" revolver. I lean toward the 610 because it's a shooter and will not shoot apart like the 310 NG if shot a lot.

So you're saying if I load the same weight bullets but say a round nose vs. a hollow point the recoil is going to be different?

No, what I didn't make clear was vibrations or harmonics are different they have to do with thinks like velocity, bullet design, also frame and slide design and materials used to make them.

Sorry about the uncompleted thought, but with two grandsons 2 & 5 in the house I am interrupted all the time as just now during writing this the youngest just climbed up next to me and had me put Blues Clues on the TV while he has his evening bottle.

Just in case you never seen a Glock, G29SF sub-compact & G20SF full size. Both with Cominolli safety installed and both always loaded and ready to go. The 29 I pocket carry a lot since it has the manual safety.
