Khe Sahn was already under siege for about 9 days and would eventually become the longest sustained bombardment in modern warfare history-77 days IIRC-a diversion of massive magnitude that would precede the Tet offensive where every major sight in South Vietnam was attacked. The media said it was evidence that we were defeated, but the VC were never the same again. Estimates range from 30-50 thousand KIA in their ranks. This was also a time when we lost many of our comrades in arms. Just join me in a moment of silent remembrance here where many remember, and some were involved.

Hat's off to those....

Hat's off to those who repelled the attack. Thumbs down on the people that kept us there for many more years. We won the battle, but lost the war.

I'm not sure that NVA was looking to 'win' on that day, but show that they could do what they wanted, when they wanted.
