Not sure where/when it started, but of course, it means that the person is in agreement with the comments/point of view that the other person has stated. Lots of newer acronyms/abbreviations have come about with the Internet... Somebody gets creative with a word, or expression, others pick up on it, and pass it along. Not sure if this one came about that way, but it may be.

You can see how languages morph over time. In the old days it would take hundreds of years to see real notable changes, but with today's communications technologies, I bet English will see some relatively rapid changes. I suppose you could Google it and get a better idea of where it started.

And its already replaced by the"like button".

I did. Google will use +1 on it's new social site.
I somehow had in the back of my mind that
the expression has to do with target scoring.

Thanks

Mark

The +1 type notation is sometimes used in scoring targets, where the number following the + is the number of shots that were placed in the 10 ring. A score of 1550 with 80 bulls would be 1550+80. Not used much.

You'll usually see it on gun forums referring to buyer/seller feedback, probably due to arfcom, one of the largest forums, and their numbered feedback system where posting a short simple "+1" along with a member's name in the appropriate forum adds to that member's feedback score.

It's the same as saying "me too" as in I agree with the previous post.
Like +1, add me to the list of people who agree with the previous statement or post.
And it's not unique to gun forums. It's commonly used on many message boards.

Well you actually can not just say +1 anymore as that is only two, to , too characters. You would need to add 8, ate, eight more to, two,too make ten, 10.
