An 8 shot N frame with comp or a 7 shot L frame with comp. Both with mooners from Performance Center.

Cheapest/easiest to make would be a Compact M&P ported 2.0, with 15 in the mag, standard with night sights. Full size M&P with red dot, suppressor sights and threaded barrel, comped from Performance Center.

All I have to say is if Glock can figure out how to make a polymer framed striker fired 10mm, why can't S&W with the M&P line? I feel the same way about Springfield Armory and their XD line up, but supposedly they are coming out with a 10mm soon. I'm one of those who just don't care for Glock's grip angle, but I shoot my SA XD in .40 just fine, so if they beat S&W to the punch, that's what I'll get. I really want a S&W M&P to sit next to my 1076 in the safe but an XD in 10mm next to my XD in .40 works too.

Eight 10 MM chambers do not fit in an N frame and seven do not fit in an L frame. In order to fit eight .357 chambers in an N frame S&W had to move the chambers and the threaded hole for the barrel further away from the center line of the cylinder. I suspect they'd have to do the same to fit seven 10 MM chambers in an N frame. If the barrel has to be in an intermediate spot then a seven shot N frame 10 MM is extremely unlikely to be built.

The problem is not that S&W can not make 10 MMs. The problem is that experience has proved they can not sell enough of them to keep any 10 MM in the catalog for more than a few years. That certainly discourages any investment in redesigning pistols for 10 MM.

I am not bad mouthing S&W 10 MM handguns. I will never sell any of mine. Fact is for decades I've thought a seven shot 10 MM N frame was a great idea. If wishes were fishes ....

But they haven't tried with a semi-auto in 15+ years. If I'm not mistaken, 10mm is seeing a resurgence in the consumer market. Sig brought out the P220 in 10mm and affordable ammo to shoot in it (and the ammo is proper 10 power levels over 600 ft-lbs). You can now find numerous companies chambering a 1911 in 10 (including SA) when that wasn't the case just 10 years ago. And the prices on the 10xx line keeps going up.

I'm no firearms designer/engineer, but shouldn't the M&P 45 be able to handle hot 10 loads? Keep the OD of the .45 barrel with a smaller hole down the middle and it should be able to handle the extra pressure and the rest is just tuning with recoil springs and magazine modifications.

I'd be happy if they would simply manufacture MORE oem magazines for the M-1000 series! Mags are now a hundred a pop, or more.

A 6-shot L-frame would be a great all-around gun, but I don’t see it happening.
