10 round magazine limit upheld in N.J.

It’s amazing that NJ still outlaws hollowpoint (HP) ammo. Either they don’t understand what HP was designed for or they’re just don’t care about the risk to bystanders in their state. I don’t go there often but I do switch out my carry rounds when I do, even with my LEOSA certification.

Their idea is to make life so legally difficult for legal gun owners, that 1) people choose to not own guns due to the hassles 2) those who do own guns will have it so hard to be in compliance that any LEO can find a gun law that has been broken, so as to arrest legal gun owners so as to discourage (scare) other legal gun owners. The goal is to eradicate legal gun ownership by a thousand cuts.

Each hollow point round is a year in prison. That’s a law designed not for safety, but for tyranny.

All, but one of my handguns, holds 10 rounds or less. The one I do have that holds more, FEG P9RK, I don't carry...it's heavy, especially when loaded up.

I do not agree with such ammo regulations, but I don't really feel that limited with a revolver and a spare speed strip, or a lower capacity handgun with one spare magazine. JMHO

Having grown up in a world of revolvers and 1911s, I wouldn't either, but that's not the point.

Not good, but at the end of the day, they still have the SIG P220 which is one of my favorite fighting handguns.

You guys with the attitude of "it doesn't effect my favorite pistol and rifle, so who cares?" are totally and completely in the wrong. This is about the state making criminals of legal gun owners simply because they can, and they feel like it.
No crimes are prevented by this, no people are less murdered or less injured by a crazy person, no shooting is prevented, no child less in any kind of danger because of ANY of these laws. The ONLY thing they do is demonize you and me because we have stuff that we DO NOT USE TO HURT PEOPLE.
"It's fine by me because I carry a J-frame" and similar thoughts are why these laws pass. "common sense gun laws" making criminals of you and me a little at a time.
And the hollow point thing blows my mind. Even in the military we use hollow points to reduce collateral damage all the time. That's right, we use them to PREVENT harming unintended targets.

To quote a very famous poem, from a very famous speech, about a very famous event:

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

We should all be aware of any pending legislation in our home states regarding magazine limits, red flag orders, and other little chips in the glass, and contact our representatives accordingly . . .

Common sense restrictions, they tell us. The scariest and most troubling phrase you'll ever hear from a politician's mouth is "common sense". After all, North Korea's people are free, according to their government, and they have common sense restrictions in place to keep them free and safe. And Cuba - common sense travel restrictions keep them safe from the rest of the evil world. The common sense lists used by tyrants could go on and on ...

Some of the attitudes expressed here are why we, as a community, will never become a unified and organized voting block and political force. Our disunity is our weakness and the other side takes full advantage of it. We’re all in this together, makes no difference what you own, use or carry - the opposition is after it. It’s a darn shame because the other side will win as a result. And them winning because of our dysfunctional community “T’s” me off more than any 10 round mag limit could.
My apologies to the mods if I crossed any line; no apologies to the intended targets here.

"common sense gun safety" is just a marketing term for gun control and the people who use that language know it. There are lots of people out there who bristle at "gun control" but start nodding their heads yes to the new term. Kind of like relabeling liberal to progressive.

Not much different from the fact that although we never hear the terms "knife crime" or "drunk driver killing" or that someone was "killed by a baseball bat" or whatever, but every shooting is a "gun crime" or a "gun killing and people are "killed by a gun."

Then there is the whole assault weapon and extended magazine thing....

Don't look for deeper meaning or try to parse out what is common sense or safety. The shock isn't that the other side uses marketing techniques and ad words, it is that so many people are completely oblivious to being manipulated.

And yes, we need to stop separating ourselves into groups because we live in this state or that or feel our revolver is good enough while the next guy feels he needs a 17 round magazine.

We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.

In NJ, hollow points ARE legal in one's home or at the range. The police actually are permitted to carry them.

A point to consider is the rationale behind every NJ gun law. Let's presume that the typical gun owner in NJ is a conservative (Republican). Whenever a gun owner breaks a gun law, they become a disenfranchised conservative, for the most part for a period of ten years.

There is a current fear associated with the new magazine ban. It is being bantied about that the handgun purchase permits/registration forms used to purchase double stack magazines will be used as probable cause for door to door searches for 10+ round magazines retained after the ban went into effect.

No one, or state, is safe. Legislatures legislate, what was done can be undone/repealed.
Just look at last Nov with razor thin victories in what were once safe states. Migration and the free spending billionaires are not your friend.
Brick by brick, block by block.

To quote a very famous poem, from a very famous speech, about a very famous event

First they came for the bump stocks, and I did not speak out...because I was not interested in bump stocks.
Next they came for the semi-auto rifles, and I did not speak out...because I did not own a semi-auto rifle.
Later they came for the semi-auto pistols and I did not speak out...because I did not own a semi-auto pistol.
Then they came for my revolver and, by that time, there was no one left to speak for me.
