I'm looking to buy a couple 10 rounder's for bench shooting.I only have pmag 30's. Midway has AR-Stoner & Cproducts in stock right now,but I'm not familiar with these or any other mag period. Some help in this matter would be cool. Thanks Steve

I have bought 5 of the Stoners, they are a great mag. I only load them with 9, the 10th seems a little tough to get in, maybe after I break them in they will be different but for PDog hunting the 10rd Mag works very well and doesnt get in the way. I tried the 10 round Thermold...I threw them away, I didnt get good performance from them. A cheaper alternative is the 20 round Thermold, they work great and dont stick out very far at all, CDNN sells them for about $5 a piece and I dont load but 10 to 15 in them. I use them a lot also. My 30's stay in their pouches in the closet unloaded I just dont use them. When someone comes over to shoot and they always want to shoot one of my AR's if I hand them a 30 round mag loaded with 20 or 25, after about 10 to 15 shots I start thinking about how much work and how much it is going to cost me to reload all those rounds. LOL I am not cheap, just frugal.

I have nine of the Stoners. Great mags. The only thing is that, like Grover said, the tenth round is a tight fit in that the spring is essentially bottomed out. So you can't load a full mag on a closed bolt as the top round hits the bolt and won't allow the mag to be inserted far up enough to catch.

It's not really a problem for me at the range since you have to start off each shooting session with the bolt locked open anyway.

I ordered 2 of the Stoners 3 weeks ago. Only holds 9 rounds but the Mags work great.

As always, great advice and tips from people who have been there and done that. Thanks everyone!!!! Sounds like Stoner it is. Midway has them on sale for 11.99, going to give them a try.

I've kinda poached on this thread. Thanks to those who have shared. Count me in. I just ordered 4 of the 10 round Stoner mags. I like a shorter mag...

Stoners are good!

I ordered a couple of the 5 round Stoner mags from Midway USA. They work great, so I figure the 10's should work just as well.

BTW gunsandjeeps, I like your username! I too have guns and A Jeep! Love guns; great ride!:D

10 round Stoners

Got my 10 round Stoners the other day and I don't know who ships faster, Midway or Primary Arms. And yes, can only load 9 rounds in each but not a problem for me cause I'm only using them for the bench.
Thanks Lineman73. On the name. We actually have 2 Jeeps, mine is a 2003 two door and my brides is a 2011 four door. We have a blast running the logging trails on and near our property and the Black River in So. Missouri.

I also ordered 2 Stoner 10 round mags from Midway, and mine too would only load 9. Other than follower color, they are visually identical to my S&W 10 round mags (ASC stamped). Decided to take one Stoner apart ( a struggle), saw nothing unusual but made certain the spring was correctly aligned on the back of the follower when it all went back together. It now holds 10 rounds.

Couldn't get the 2nd Stoner apart but did a bit of moving follower and spring around. It also now holds 10 rounds.

I can't explain what I did to "fix" them.

Given this bass ackwards state has a 10 round limit in magazine capacity, I've tried most of the 10 rounders. I usually use the 10 round Stoners or the Lancer polys. I've put > 2500 rounds through the Lancers without a problem. I don't go with the popular blocked 20s or 30s as they cause conversations at some ranges I don't want.

Stebo...do they have the anti-tilt followers in them...should I take mine apart and see what the hangup is? Now you have me thinking I should plus I have some of the anti-tilt followers that I could put into them.

My Stoners have ASC followers in them...I am putting the magpuls and going to try them out. I just found out that the spring isnt fastened into the follower. now my mags will hold 10 but they are at full compression and I would hate to leave them that way. thanks Stebo

p.s. the magpul followers work great in them and actually seem to fit better.

Just returned from the range (Let me put in a plug for Davis Shooting in Goshen, NY, 100 yd indoor). Both Stoners loaded and shot 10 rounds, no issues.

Just to get back to everybody, had a chance to try out my new 10 round Stoner mags while sighting in another new purchase an Aimpoint PRO. They work just fine. Thanks again to everyone who responded to my question.

Steve

Being in the PRNJ I am limited to 10 rd magazines, I use the stoner's and have yet to have an issue with them. Many like the 20 rd pmags for bench use as well.
