Sorry if this is a duplicate question. I tried to search but the page wouldn’t load.
I’m just curious about how well OEM 10-round mags work in an M&P 2.0 Compact 9 that comes with 15-round mags. I’m thinking about getting a couple of 10’s for when I’m vacationing in mag-limit states.
Have any of you had any problems with the 10-round mags?

I have the same pistol. I live in NJ so 10 rounders are the max.
The pistol came with two 15 rounders that I had blocked by the dealer. I have also bought genuine S&W 10 rounders with NO problems other than tight loading at first. Function 100 pct Just make sure you buy for the 2.0

Great! Thanks!

All my M&Ps are 1.0 (Full and Compact). All my M&P mags are 10 rounds. All work great.

S&W uses the same 10 round mag body and uses different length floor plates to make up the difference in grip length.

To echo what Dueeast said, make sure they are listed as 2.0 Compact, 10 round. The 1.0 Compact is the same size as the 2.0 Subcompact (12 rounds 9mm). Folks with 2.0 Compacts have mistakenly ordered 1.0 Compact mags that are too short and won't lock in.

They are tight getting the last round in. As a result, you may have difficulty seating a full mag with the slide closed.

FWIW my experience is with full size M&P 10 rounders. They seem to have more spring pressure compared to full capacity mags. So they are a PITA to load but once loaded they work fine.

I just bought the M&P 9 2.0 Compact and I'm looking for 10-round mags. Does anyone have the S&W part number handy? I would appreciate it. The S&W website's description of the 10s is confusing, as it is with several retail gun sites as well. There are so many versions of pistols, it's really difficult to make sure of the exact part. Why can't they just give a compatibility chart so we don't have to look at every description? I find the same problems with other pistol makers as well.

Wow. Good price. Thanks for the part number and tip.
Did you get the last ones that they had? They're showing as out of stock now.

If not, Locked & Loaded and Defense Depot also have them for about $30.

I've ordered from all 3 places. IIRC, Sportsman's shipped the fastest, Defense Depot was the slowest.

I got the last one. I need at least one more. I'll check the the other suppliers. Thanks again.

I used to buy M&P mags, including 10-rounders, from Proven Arms and Outfitters. At the time, they were affordable and consistently stocked. Check their site too.

To add to the confusion, there is another SKU 3009778, that appears to be the same magazine. I've found the latter on the Proven Arms and Outfitters site. I did a search in Google and they are supposed to be interchangeable. But I couldn't find that SKU on S&Ws site. The manual with the M&P9 2.0 isn't much help in determining what is going on here, but apparently the adapters that came with it allow you to modify the Model 1.0 and Full size mags to the 2.0.

The adapters allow the full size mags (either 10 or 17 in 9mm) to fit the compact grip without a gap. Doesn't matter if it's 1.0 or 2.0.

My solution is to avoid all states that impose a 10-round limit. Why? Because those 10-round-limit states invariably have other unacceptable social attributes.
