I find myself with a quantity of 12 gauge shotgun shells. They are all Federal or Remington 00 Buck in either standard 9 pellet or reduced recoil 8 pellet. I have about 100 five shot boxes and another 50 loose rounds. (All 2 3/4 inch) I rarely shoot shotgun anymore. I see these shells for up to .$3 each online. I don't believe in gouging. What would be a fair price?

The loose shells were loaded in shotguns daily and unloaded. Theyare still in excellent condition.

I wouldn't worry about fair price unless you are selling them to a friend. At fair price ammo is gobbled up and sold for all they can wring out of it. I have a lot of ammo to sell. I'm suspending sales for at least 100days, if you know what I mean. There could be unseen but predictable forces in ammo market. I think ammo is going to be the back door attack.

Shotgun ammo is seller's market. Get for it what you can. Online auction at Gunbroker is a good way to maximize the sale price.

Big issue will be shipping. Do NOT ship in the US Mail.

Note well: some cities and states have restrictions on the purchase of ammo by their subjects. Also, there is Federal law which, I think, says that certain persons (for example felons) cannot possess ammunition.

Be careful

What kind of ammo is not a sellers market?

A couple of weeks ago our large LGS got in several pallets of nothing but 12 gauge 00 buck . $1.00 a round . Was there today and it looked like not much of it was sold . Why they would get in pallets of nothing but 00 buck is beyond me .

The OO buck at Academy is 4.99 per box of 5 if you can find it.

Reminds me of one of my mentors. He was selling new Cadillacs for $100. but he didn't have any. He said when he got some in the price might be a little higher. I think a fair price is what the people that have them are getting for them. Larry

I was at one of my somewhat LGS's this afternoon and bought a box of OO buck, 5 shells 12 ga made by Wolf Performance Ammo for $7.75. That was all I wanted or needed for my newly purchased Winchester 1897 riot gun.

It was the only box of 12 ga. he had.

OO Buck has a limited use, shooting two legged vermin. Maybe the LGS is expecting people in the area to WANT OO Buck because they expect to use it for that purpose.

Was watching an online auction in Ephrata PA yesterday. The only thing I saw that even approached a bargain was a really nice 25-5 w/ box, manual, tools that went for $1400. At the same auction. a case of Remington 12 gauge slugs went for 1700 and a case of Rio lo recoil 00 went for 1800

The only ammunition I have seen in retail stores lately has been shotgun shells, target and field loads, no buckshot.

I have an abundance of 12-gauge target loads (#7-1/2, #8 shot), enough field loads (#6, #4) for a pheasant season or two, one box of BB-shot (I like it for home defense), and about 30 rounds of 00-buck. I think I have four slug rounds. Fresh out steel shot waterfowl loads (and see none on the shelves).

I suspect that if I really wanted to sell any of it all I would have to do is post a note on the bulletin board at the range. But then I'd probably have to hire security guards for the house and off-duty cops to direct traffic around my house.
